Last year it provided a look at players who would soon become household names early in their careers. Players such as Cameron Ryans Cameron Ryans 6'4" | SG Northview | 2026 State MI , Braylon Frantz Braylon Frantz 6'1" | PG St. Clair | 2026 State MI , and Noah Arnold Noah Arnold 6'7" | PF Heritage | 2026 State MI
Following are a handful of standouts from the home team— the Grand Rapids region.
Jaylen Perry Jaylen Perry 6'5" | PG Wyoming | 2027 State MI 6-4 Wyoming (pictured) Type of hardwood prospect that simply looks the part. Long, lean, and left handed. Has a lot going for him before the ball even tips. After the tip. Got off to a bit of a slow start. As the day continued appeared to warm up and showed why he is considered one of the top prospects in the camp. Excelled in getting to basket. Used his size to be a strong finisher at the rim. Easily rises above defenders with his height and athleticism. Had a handful of dunks in tradition. Finishing above the rim was not a problem. Will definitely need to add strength and size to his frame as he matures. However oozes upside right now.
Brayden Williams Brayden Williams 5'11" | PG Wyoming | 2027 State MI 5-11 Wyoming One of the revelations of the late summer period for me. Is the amount of young talent in the Wyoming program (see above) I was extremely impressed with Williams at an all grade elite camp at Ferris St about a month ago. He stood out even more playing with players in his own age group. Outside of the obvious physical gifts. Appears to simply be a gamer. Had the play of the camp. A winning DEEP three in one contest. Despite that I wouldn’t call him a shooter. Is a devastating physical driver. Goes to the basket with purpose and strength. Has a tight handle and a quick first step. Willing passer and is definitely a point guard long term.
Isaiah Taylor Isaiah Taylor 5'8" | PG Catholic Central | 2027 State MI 5-8 Grand Rapids Catholic Central The parochial school just off Division St continues to pump out guards. In this scouts opinion. Was probably the fastest player in camp. Jetted around the court at a different pace than his peers. Also showed good change of pace and the ability to stop on a dime. Not very tall but has a well put together frame. Showed competitiveness and isn’t the type smaller that is going to get pushed around. Has quite a rotation to work through if he is going to earn varsity time in the coming season. Despite that is definitely a player to watch long term.
Braylon Taylor Braylon Taylor 5'7" | PG Grand Rapids Christian | 2027 State MI 5-7 Grand Rapids Christian Small point guard played well. Kept defenses honest with a pure outside shot. Good bloodlines and is a coaches son. However more importantly plays like it. Drove to the basket without fear. Has good speed and a nice ball handling skill set. Definitely has some area to improve and grow in. However Christian has shown to be an excellent developmental program of late. With Kobe Bufkin (Michigan/Atlanta Hawks) and Jaylan Ouwinga Jaylan Ouwinga 6'6" | C Grand Rapids Christian | 2024 State MI making a huge late gains. As he grows physically has the possibility of following a similar developmental path.
Eli Wolfe Eli Wolfe 5'7" Rockford | 2027 MI 5-7 Rockford Heady young guard who has everything but size. Personally was a little more impressive at an elite camp at Grand Valley about a month ago. Nevertheless did some positive things on Sunday. Plays like a seasoned veteran in pick and roll situations. Understandable as he plays with his head up and is a good passer. Beyond that is also very patient in letting plays develop. Like the Taylor’s listed above him. Will need to grow and plays in an excellent developmental program. Wolfe should be at forefront as the Rams reload in the next few years.
Cameron Crowder Cameron Crowder 5'11" | CG Forest Hills Northern | 2027 State MI 5-9 Grand Rapids Forest Hills Northern Small prospect provided a steady point play for a unit that went undefeated on the day. While he was a solid distributor and ball handler. Deep shooting was where he really made his mark. Got hot and had eight threes in one contest. Many of them were very deep. The shooting acumen should help as his physicality catches up to his overall skill level.
Carson Schick Carson Schick 5'10" | PG Forest Hills Central | 2027 State MI 5-10 Grand Rapids Forest Hills Central Staying within the Forest Hills district for our last player. Schick also played on the same undefeated squad with Crowder. Got off to a bit of a slow start. However as the day continued. Loosed up as his outside shot began to fall. Unlike a lot of point guards on this list. Is pretty advanced physically. Won’t need to get much bigger if he wants to be a point guard. The Rangers will have a new coach. If he continues to develop could have a role in the new system.
