Thompson was a double-double machine for Team Fly , and offensively mainly got his buckets near the hoop utilizing his length and soft touch. He was pretty solid with his mid-range jumper as well, and capably attacked the hoop off the dribble. In addition to his rebounding, the Sunset junior was solid defensively at multiple positions, both inside and out on the perimeter.

The versatile wing had a big season for Sunset, who upset Barlow to advance to the Round of 16 of the state playoffs. Thompson was almost unstoppable around the basket, using his quickness & skill level to average over 20 points per game. As Thompson shows off of more of his perimeter abilities, we expect college opportunities to be many.

Perhaps no one elevated his game as much this season as Thompson as he became an outright offensive force for the Apollos. With his combination of length and athleticism and ability to score both inside and out, the junior was a mismatch nightmare for defenses. In particular, his length proved to be beneficial both with his own rebounding and defense.

As he has continued to grow and develop physically, Thompson has shown how he can wreak havoc with his combination of length, athleticism, and ball skills. The junior really exhibited these qualities at the Expo: Oregon in the fall and his versatility and ability to play multiple positions on both ends of the floor will serve Sunset well in 2025-26. Thompson is a wing who doesn’t really fit into any one type of mold, he just goes out and tries to make the right play. Offensively, he has a good enough handle to deal with some pressure, beat tight defense, and makes all the extra passes. He also showed a capable outside shot, and some skill to spin around defenders down the lane and feel out defenders in the midpost to get around and to the hoop. Was also a factor defensively with his ability to guard multiple positions, showed strength to fight through screens, and the athleticism to block some shots at the rim.

Thompson impressed as an athletic, lengthy scorer who could finish through contact and stretch the floor with his shooting. At his best when attacking or spotting up, he knocked down threes consistently when left open. His ability to play above the rim added another great layer to his game. (AG)
