Final Oregon AAU Team Rankings: 17U Elite 8
As the 2017 aau season comes to a close, we present our final rankings of the top 8 17U club teams from the state of Oregon. A lot of factors are taken in to account in determining these rankings, these include: roster, offers, on court performance, head to head records, and much more.
1. Portland Basketball Club – The race for the #1 spot was a tough one, but at the end of the day, the quality of PBC’s roster and the EYBL schedule that they faced put them over the top. Featured players include top 50 national recruit Kamaka Hepa, Kelton Samore who has 8 D1 offers, and Marcus Tshonis, the #1 player in our 2019 class rankings.
2. Hoop Salem – The Salem Hoop squad was a close 2nd in our final rankings on the strength of a head to head victory over PBC. Leading players for the squad were Kyle Greeley of West Salem who holds four D1 offers, 2019 point guard Jaden Nielson Skinner, and 2018 wing Tariq Harris of Crescent Valley.
3. Team Fly – The relatively new club had the biggest line up in the state, featuring four players over 6’6 including 6’10 post Filip Fullerton of Southridge HS who picked up a Portland State offer this week. Dalton Renne and Dyshawn Hobson rounded out a deep and balanced roster.
4. Team Flight – When at full strength, this team made up of players from Eugene and southern Oregon was very competitive, winning the Jam On It tournament in Las Vegas, making the semis of the Pump Brothers event in Los Angeles, and taking Seattle Rotary EYBL to overtime. Leading the way was sharp shooting guard Jay Elmore of South Eugene and athletic wing Kaison Faust of North Medford.
5. Elite 24 Black – A highly skilled group of guys who did a nice job of spacing the floor and playing effectively off of one another. Top performers include 2017 guards Rowan Anderson of Cleveland, Jaylen Thompson of West Linn, and JR Schilling of Lake Oswego.
6. Score Athletics – Team made primarily of players from the PIL, had several nice wins in the spring and was very competitive in the summer. Leading the way were Damon Hickok of Grant, Sethon Moore from Cleveland, and Isaac Artharee from Central Catholic. The athletic trio created match up problems for some of the bigger teams that they faced.
7. Clutch – Gained national attention when Lavar Ball and Big Baller Brand walked off the court during their match up in Anaheim, but the team performed well throughout the spring and summer. Leading the way was Bryce Sloan, a highly skilled guard from Lincoln HS.
8. Maeko – Team with a mix of 2017, 2018, & 2019 players was lead by 3 Rivers League mvp Alexis Angeles of Tualatin and 2017 David Douglas grade Demonte Malloy.
