Seth Wilson, Malaki Branham to lead Tru Game in Vegas
As the eyes of the prep basketball world turn toward Las Vegas for the last “live period” showcase of the summer one might want to keep an eye on an insanely talented Ohio team in the U-15 category.
Coached by longtime AAU bench boss Danyelle Love, Tru Game is playing in the Adidas Select Series Las Vegas Summer Championship.
The squad features loads of projected high major college talent. Included in that group are Seth Wilson and Malaki Branham, a pair of 6’2” wings from the class of 2021. Both are taking their talents to St. Vincent-St. Mary – the school LeBron James made famous and is still coached by LeBron’s former high school coach Dru Joyce II. Branhan just decided he’ll attend St. V’s earlier this week.
Love has coached a slew of players who have gone on to play Division I, including Dererk Pardon (Northwestern), Luke Kennard (Duke), Kipper Nichols (Illinois) and VJ King (Louisville), and is of the opinion Wilson and Branham both have the same ceiling.
“They are both high major Division I basketball players in the making. These two young men are extremely special but most importantly blessed,” said Love of Wilson and Branham, who played collegiately at Northwestern and has coached boys high school basketball in Cleveland.
Wilson averaged 23 points, 12 rebounds, and 8 assists in his eighth-grade season for Burneson Middle School in Westlake. He is a solidly built at 6-2, and uses his strength and ball handling to get to the rack at will and can also connect from deep with a smooth jumper.
Branham is long and lean. He gets to the hoop effortlessly with long strides. His handle and ability to see the open man are such that he can lead the break and can also knock down jumpers. He averaged 23 a game as a seventh grader.
Those two are not the only stars on the Tru Game Squad. Noah Rittinger (2021), a slick-handling point guard from West Virginia, has already received an offer from Marshall, as well.
