He’s trimmed a bit, and moving well on the court. He’s a versatile type of prospect that contributes in different ways. He makes good use of his body with strong drives into the paint handling contact and finishing with a bucket, coming from the baseline and different angles. He hits the short jumper with consistency, he’ll knock down open 3’s. He has the body, and strength to get work done from the mid, and low post at this level. He’s a rebounding guard, and he’s increased his lateral foot speed defending on the perimeter.
Highlights
Goodman showed us he can be a top notch defender while he works to improve his offensive skills. He’s good around the basket, slashing and finishing, he works from the high, and mid post, and along the baseline, passing, and using a dribble or two, to finish at the rim, sometimes a two handed dunk, or paint jumpers. He has a quick jump, and long reach to go after and get blocks, and rebounds. He’s a growing body, getting stronger with good foot speed that helps him defend on the perimeter, and in the post.
The 5’8 Wagner is showing good improvement throughout the Spring. He’s stronger playing with good confidence. He’s using his dribble, and quickness to go by defenders and challenge bigs in the paint, handling the contact. He’s an excellent ball handler with vision, and passing running half-court sets and finding players in transition. He does a good job of spreading the ball around the perimeter, and finding slashers, and shooters. He can hit the open 3ptr.
Highlights
He’s a thick body, strong combo guard that can get a bucket coming from different areas on the court. He goes hard with the dribble, uses either hand to finish around the rim, or hit the short jumper, he makes his free throws. He’s a solid rebounder at this level, grabbing and leading the break. He has the strength to guard bigger players in the post at the 16U level, and the foot speed to stay in front of ball on the perimeter. He’s a hard playing guard.
He fits as a combo guard, but did a good job when he did have the opportunity to run the offense. He showed good patience in the half-court, along with an ability to get into the paint for kick-outs. He’s a ball mover, with good decisions using the skip pass, and feeding the post areas. He had a couple of baskets slashing, and in transition running to fill lanes. He’s a good on ball defender with quick hands to disrupt the ball handler at times.
