Expert Analysis
Victor Taylor | Prep Hoops Scout
Haynes is a long, rangy prospect that would be a nice pickup for a local school due to his athletic gifts and developing skill with the game. While probably needing a year to develop and continue working on his jumper and attacking with the dribble, his outstanding physical tools, combined with a high motor on both ends of the floor make him someone who could be a contributor sooner than later if he gets in the gym. Would be a nice redshirt or development guy for a D2 or D3 in the area.

is the final of the new faces in the final rankings update at 98th in the 2024 class in the state out of Durham School of the Arts. He led the Bulldogs rotation in a variety of ways with his production of 17.2 PPG, 8.0 RPG, 2.7 BPG and 1.1 APG. He’s a prospect at 6-foot-5 with a knack for blocking shots, rebounding the ball and attacking the paint with his speed and athleticism off the bounce and downhill. He’s slowly developing his ability to be aggressive when given opportunities in the half court and fast break. He’s another prospect for DIII and JUCO programs to get eyes on after turning heads at the PH Top 250 North Carolina Showcase this past preseason.

Last Season Stats – 11.5 PPG, 7,4 RPG, 1.7 BPG
Haynes was a name I first laid eyes on at the PrepHoops Top 250 Expo and I think he’s in line for a big year as DSA’s focal point. He’s strong, rugged, and packs a lot into his 6’5 frame to where he should be able to dominate around the rim when he wants to. Biggest thing he’ll need to improve on offense is efficiency, and finding the right opportunities to step out and shoot the three ball instead of finishing around the rim. Defensively is a capable rim protector and rebounder that strikes fear into opposing players heart as they come around the basket.

If one were to look up the definition of “playmaker,” one may very well find a picture of Haynes. That photo could be simply one of his face, or one of his entire 6-foot-5 frame that gives opposing teams and coaches fits. If he has the ball on the perimeter, he is very likely to take and make his tries from behind the arc. He will also come through with rebounds on the offensive end of the floor and those boards can turn into two-point putbacks. Attacking the rim is another way he makes an impact on the game. Haynes is one of many 2024s throughout the Hoop State who will be looking to conclude their high school careers with an emphatic exclamation point.

Haynes is a guy I hadn’t heard much about until yesterday, but immediately popped off the page as a wiry forward that has lots of potential. He’s definitely still raw in some areas, but showcases a lot of talent, especially on the defensive end. He blocked multiple shots and walled up well inside to take away easy layups. Offensively he cut well, stepped out and hit a couple jumpers and slashed to the rim with pace. He should be in line for a big senior season at DSA.
