Midwest City wins Kansas University Team Camp
The Midwest City Bombers return one of the most loaded lineups in Class 6A this past year. This past weekend the Bombers went to Kansas University one of the most storied basketball programs in the country team camp. Midwest City topped the camp taking home the large school championship.
The Bombers went through Rockhurst who is led by Xavier Rhodes (plays with PWP) in the semifinals out of Missouri. Then Midwest City beat a tough 6A school in Kansas, Free State by seven in the championship game.
Keyshawn Embery dominated the camp in the words of the Bombers coaching staff. This spring Embery had his ups and downs, but in the final regular season of the UAA Circuit in Los Angeles, Embery was great. It appears Embery has continued to improve throughout June showing what many have seen for quite some time. What stood out in LA and continued to stand out at the Kansas Team Camp was how well Embery shot the ball.
Jalen Redmond brought the toughness and grit Midwest City needs in the paint. He continues to get stronger as he has made it a focus since joining the Bombers football program. Redmond will be one of the top football recruits in the country this year.
A player who continues to rise up the charts at the small college level is Josh Rivers. The coaching staff saw great growth in his game and said he had a great weekend. But what stood out even more about Rivers is that other teams coaching staff’s were praising him. The defense Rivers brings each game out can be infectious.
Derrick Walter Jr. continued to shoot the ball well. The 6’5 Wing is one of the better under the radar players in the 2018 Oklahoma Class. He is currently ranked 10th.
Midwest City did not loose a game this summer when at full strength. The Bombers are one of the favorites to win the Class 6A Gold Ball in 2018.
