Edmond Santa Fe wins OU Team Camp
The Edmond Santa Fe Wolves went through a tough bracket to win the Oklahoma Team Camp this weekend. Edmond Santa Fe is coming off a very up and down year with a loaded squad returning. Tauriawn Knight leads the way at the Combo Guard spot for Edmond Santa Fe. Knight is a Guard who appears ready to have a breakout year.
Knight projects to the Division I level with his skill set of being able to run the Point or be an effective scorer off the ball. He has yet to garner a Division I offer, but appears to be closing in on his first with his recent play. Knight knows his game on offense and has become one of the better drive and finishers to the rim in the Oklahoma 2018 Class. He has also improved his jumper, which is making him even tougher to guard.
Edmond Santa Fe will look to Knight to lead the team as the best returning player entering his senior year, but Knight has some great help around him as well. Kamden Gipson has been one of the most improved players this spring. Gipson is a little guy on the court at 5’8, but plays with the most heart, hustle, toughness and smarts. Gipson is a quick Guard who has found ways to score inside amongst the trees to go along with his sniper skills from three-point land. Defensively, Gipson has some quick hands that make him a true all-around Guard.
The young player to watch on Edmond Santa Fe is 2019 Wing Ben Smith. The minutes for Smith were up and down this past year. But with the great spring he has had look for Smith to be a mainstay in the Edmond Santa Fe lineup for his final two years. Smith has great athleticism and leaping ability. One thing Smith has really improved this spring is the consistency of his three-point shooting. Smith has the potential to be a Mid Major plus Division I prospect.
Oklahoma Team Camp was a great showing for the Wolves. They are off to a great start now it is on Edmond Santa Fe to continue their success this winter with a deep state tournament run.
