Recruiting Report: Levi Boettcher (2018)

Levi Boettcher (2018) has made a name for himself the past two seasons at Urbana High School, and looks to improve on what has been a great high school career. This two time 1st Team all CBC player has the goal of winning the CBC next season as well as make a deeper run in the postseason. “Last year was a down year for us and I don’t want that to happen my senior year”. Levi and his Urbana team fell to Trotwood-Madison in the district title game by 34 points, but don’t expect another outcome like that during Levi’s senior season.
What makes Levi a unique player is he has the height and build of a small forward, but the offensive skill of a shooting guard. Although he is not afraid to pull up from 3 point range, Levi gets most of his points with his nice midrange shot. With his 6’5” stature, he is a defensive nightmare and is difficult to contest his shots. Levi is also athletic enough to attack with the dribble if the defense takes away his jump shot. This skill set has made him an important target for several Division 3 colleges thus far in his playing career.
Levi still wants to see improvement in his all-around game. “I want to be the best shooter, ball handler, rebounder, etc”. His AAU coach, DJ McCommons from Advanced Game, tells me one of Levi’s other areas of improvement is to play a little less unselfish. However, the fact that he needs to be more selfish is a testament to how good of a player this young man is. All around, Levi has a great set of skills in his arsenal, and plenty of upside and potential going forward. Not only has Levi been recognized as an all-CBC player, but he also has received honorable mention all-Southwest District and 1st Team all-District 9. Considering there are a great amount of talented players out of Southwestern Ohio, to make any team is an accomplishment itself.
Currently, Levi does not hold any offers, but has received interest from a few D2 and multiple D3 colleges. I have no doubt Levi Boettcher will play at the next level, and I expect great things during his senior year at Urbana.
