Tom Keller | Prep Hoops Scout
Toatley is a strong downhill guard who plays with an immense deal of physicality throughout the game. He uses his lack of size as an advantage and plays low to the ground which allows him to get into tight gaps on the floor.

One of the state’s top unsigned senior point guards, Toatley has been the catalyst as the Blazers’ leading scorer this season. A strong, steady floor general, he controls the game with excellent pace and consistently makes sound decisions with the ball in his hands. He is particularly effective in the midrange, where he can rise up comfortably off the dribble, and he has steadily expanded his range beyond the arc. Defensively, Toatley competes with toughness, applying constant ball pressure, using active hands, and setting the tone as a reliable on-ball defender.

Across two games (both wins), Toatley averaged 15.5 PPG, 4.0 RPG, and 3.0 APG including a team 19 points against The Star Alliance. Toatley was excellent generating paint touches to make plays for himself and teammates with his mix of strength, quickness, and creative handle. Defensively, he was active on the ball and in passing lanes for steals. My favorite Toatley play was a beautiful full length bounce pass assist to Iyer.

. Between his incredible production and leadership by example, it’s difficult to say anything other than positives. At 5-foot-11, Toatley is a tough aggressive scoring guard. He’s smart, crafty, quick, and used the dribble to get to any spot on the floor. Toatley is a reliable creator, both for himself and others, and quality decision-maker with the ball in his hands. He’s a willing playmaker who sees the floor well yet often needs to apply scoring pressure in order to keep this group at its most competitive. Fortunately, Toatley can do so in several ways. He’s a quality perimeter shooter who can knock down jumpers off the catch or bounce. Finish the game against Bishop Ireton with 13 points on 4-9 from the field, 4 rebounds and 3 assists.

One of the top remaining unsigned lead guards across the region, Toatley was on a mission over the course of two tight games that saw the Blazers finish 1-1 on the week. A St. John’s (DC) transfer with loads of high-level varsity experience under his belt, he appears to be thriving under an increased workload as a senior. Toatley was consistently aggressive while getting north-south and attacking his spots off the dribble, converting efficiently with a variety of crafty layups and short-range jumpers. He kept things honest from the perimeter with a pair of 3s in each game while also keeping the ball moving consistently and helping set the tone on the other end with his ball pressure. There’s a vast array of D1 programs that could benefit from adding Toatley this spring with his blend of skill, tenacity, and big-game experience.

The unsigned senior point guard scored 16 points in a narrow loss to So Cal Academy. Toatley is a strong, reliable point guard with good quickness. He looked more comfortable shooting from the three point line on Monday which will help him as a prospect going forward.

High-IQ point guard with strength and control on the ball. Can finish effortlessly over bigger defenders and lights out from beyond the arc. Makes teammates better with his playmaking and court vision. A defensive menace who applies 94-foot pressure, disrupting opponent rhythm. Hardworking, consistent, and impactful on both ends of the floor. Devin finish the game against the Terror Prep scoring 16 points.

Toatley made the move to Bethel not only to be more of a presence on the ball as a point guard, but also to be the focal point as a whole. The matchup against S3 will feature Toatley vs

, which should be an entertaining as both can fill it up from well beyond the arc. Toatley has the ability to change the momentum of a game in just a few possessions with his mentality and shotmaking prowess. It’ll be interesting to see the progression in his overall game and see if there are improvements with his table-setting skills as a playmaker for others.

20p 7r 2a vs AOA
-Toatley was his usual productive self in a win over AOA prep, shooting 8/13 from the floor with a pretty diverse shot diet. Toatley hit two 3s by relocating well off the ball to open space, pushed the ball with great pace in transition (often by snagging the defensive rebound in traffic), and served as a pesky POA defender. His screen navigation has improved defensively as he’s using an advanced frame to fight over or through ball screens to stay in front of his matchup. His most impressive play was a rip through drive into a hop step in traffic before scoring with the inside hand at the rim through the contact for the And-1 bucket. Toatley should be a consistent and productive scoring option for a new Bethel coaching staff in his senior season.
