Summary: The duo of Beatty and Crawford will handle the scoring load this season. Both have good size for their position, pose as mismatches for most defenses. Supplement a good role player that brings effort like Martin and they could do some damage.
Tanner Crawford
Tanner Crawford
Crawford is a senior leading PG with good size for the position. Has great vision driving the ball and looking for shooters. Is great at finding cutters with his ability to see over defenders and also makes it hard for teams to zone them. Has a really good compact jump shot that allows him to have extended 3pt range. Would have liked for him to be more aggressive at times to look to score but was overall impressed with how he ran the team.
Austin Beatty
Austin Beatty
Beatty is an active wing with good size. Did a good job driving the ball and getting to the rim. Great touch in the paint shooting floaters. Capable 3pt shooter as he made a 3, but he was at his best driving the ball putting pressure on the defense. Loved his effort defensively getting in passing lanes and causing disruption.
Eli West
Eli West
West is a knock down catch and shoot 3pt shooter, especially when his feet are set. Has deep range with a quick release. Plays with an extremely high motor that sprints the floor looking to score. Has a high IQ for the game making the right plays. Will be a key player for them this year.
Landon Martin
Landon Martin
Martin plays extremely hard and sets the tone of the game from an effort standpoint. He is one of the best cutters I have seen at reading the defense and finding holes for easy baskets. It seemed like almost every time in the half court he slipped in behind the defense for dumpoffs. Didn’t get a chance to see his ability to play on the perimeter as much as I would have liked, but he was highly efficient just playing around the rim.
Kyle Claypool
Kyle Claypool
Claypool is a senior post player that is effective around the rim. Capable mid-range shooter and looked to be comfortable operating from the elbows / mid-post. Did a good job affecting shots around the basket. Did a good job controlling the paint both on offense and defense.
