Earlier this week, Prep Hoops announced the updated national rankings for the 2024 class. In the rankings, you can find 275 of the best basketball players in the country. Oklahoma had four prospects representing and we break them down in this post.
Ranking: #13 Overall rnOklahoma has had a good run over the last ten years of truly elite prospects that have come out of the state. Even in recent memory we’ve seen legitimate McDonalds All Americans in Norman North guard Trae Young and Booker T Washington guard Bryce Thompson. The next true candidate to be the next one up is Bartlesville guard David Castillo David Castillo 6’1″ | PG Sunrise Christian Academy (KS) | 2024 #80 Nation KS . He’s already a nationally known prospect as he heads into his junior season and has already been recruited by schools all over the country. In our latest national ranking, Castillo is knocking on the door of being a top ten player in the country. We’re looking forward to seeing how he leads Bartlesville this winter because it looks like he’s well on the path to becoming the next McDonalds All American from Oklahoma.
Ranking: #137 Overall rnThe first of two state champion guards from Oklahoma to make the national ranks is Edmond North guard TO Barrett TO Barrett 6’4″ | SG Link Academy | 2024 #138 Nation MO . At this time last year, there was a lot of potential surrounding Barrett’s game and it was pretty clear that he had the tools to become one of the better players in this class. Fast forward to today and Barrett is coming off a fantastic sophomore season where he helped Edmond North to a title, arguably an even better offseason while playing for Team Griffin. Barrett has a ton of momentum right now and his recruitment is starting to follow along with that notion. Edmond North is absolutely loaded and they come into this season with one of the biggest targets on their backs. It’s going to be fun to see how Barrett responds to getting everyone’s best shot every single night.
Ranking: #251 Overall rnThe second state champion guard is Dale junior Dayton Forsythe Dayton Forsythe 6’3″ | PG Dale | 2024 State #206 Nation OK . It was obvious last season that Forsythe was the best player in Class 2A and he helped lead the Pirates to a state championship. However, what makes Forsythe a true national prospect is what he did in the offseason while playing for Team Griffin. It’s one thing to tear through Class 2A but it’s another to go up against elite teams on the Nike circuit and not back down. Forsythe had an outstanding offseason and his recruitment is taking off because of it. He’s currently on a recruiting trip and has added to his offer sheet. Like Barrett and Edmond North, Forsythe and the Pirates are heavy favorites to repeat and they’re going to get everyone’s best shot. What will be fun is if Forsythe and Dale match up with either Barrett and Edmond North or Castillo and Bartlesville at the Tournament Of Champions in December.
Ranking: #262 Overall rn Chiante Tramble Chiante Tramble 6’2″ | PG Edmond North | 2024 State OK established himself as one of the top guards in the state’s 2024 class this past winter when he helped lead Moore to an unexpected run to the 6A state championship game. Tramble now faces a new challenge as he moves over to Putnam City West and attempts to help lead the Patriots back to the top of Class 6A. Tramble is a fun guard to watch because of his size, basketball IQ and overall skillset. As we mentioned last month when we were breaking down the 2024 class, as Tramble continues to get quicker on his feet and become more of a threat as a slasher and creator, he’s going to be tough to stop. His stock is going up and we’re looking forward to seeing him in person this weekend in Edmond at the Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo.
