Chris Uwayo Chris Uwayo 6'1" | CG Panther Creek | 2024 State NC is an emerging lead guard at Panther Creek High who’s off to a hot start both scoring and distributing the ball. He’s produced 25.0 PPG, 5.3 APG, 2.3 RPG and 2.0 SPG as they’re off to a 3-1 start to the season. He kicked the season off with a 32-point outing on 12-of-15 FG and 7-of-10 FT in their season-opener that saw them post 108 points. He’s an electric guard with the dynamic ability to make things happen whenever the ball comes his way. He knows how to draw contact and finish in traffic just as well as finding others in space tgo make things happen. He’s another name for DII and DIII programs in the region to get eyes on.

Uwayo is a name that should continue to gain more traction as a quick combo guard that does a bit of everything. I’m most impressed by his ability to change speeds and attack defenders hips with a combination of burst and top end quickness. He’s a capable shotmaker as well, especially out of isolation situations. Also a good shooter from deep whether that’s off the catch or the dribble.

Uwayo had a couple of good games as well as an appearance in the All Star game at the end of the day and showed the camp what he could do. He’s a smooth lead guard that sees the game really well and doesn’t get sped up by pressure defense or people trying to get up in his jersey. He’s got quickness and an ability to get downhill against guards which helps him finish well. He knocked down a couple jumpers as well. Ball screens helped him both showcase his finishing and playmaking ability. He’s a pretty complete offensive guard that can be counted on to run the show at almost any level.

Uwayo stepped up a ton in the fourth quarter to lead the Panther Creek comeback before fouling out with roughly 1:20 left in the game. He finished with 19 points as he overcame some shooting woes to lead the offensive attack. He knocked two 3-pointers and scored 10 of 19 points in the fourth quarter to pace his squad. He’s a volume-scoring guard that can get going in a hurry in the backcourt.

Uwayo is off to quite the start in his junior season, posting breakout numbers with 17.8 ppg, 4.1 apg, 2.5 spg and 2.4 rpg through their first eight games of the season. He’s a shifty guard with a nice feel for getting to his spots on all three levels that’s shooting 48 percent from the floor and 39 percent from the 3-point line.

Uwayo started out slow in the first half but he stayed locked in on defense and found his way in the second half. He did well to work his dribble drives and make plays in the paint. He made Jordan pay with his ability to get to the free throw line as well.

Uwayo is a prospect at Panther Creek High that’s ready to turn a corner in the backcourt in 2022-23. He’s capable of operating with and without the ball in his hands already with his skill set and has emerged as quite the perimeter threat this fall. He stepped up in a big way with their top point guard Amari Odom Amari Odom 6'3" | CG Panther Creek | 2023 State NC out with injury in last year’s state playoffs. With that experience under his belt and his latest development, he debuts at No. 36 in the latest rankings update in the 2024 class.
