SWAC Player of the Year: Will James Jr Will James Jr 6'4" | SG Holly Springs | 2025 State NC .
Holly Springs guard Will James Jr Will James Jr 6'4" | SG Holly Springs | 2025 State NC . took home this year’s award for SWAC Player of the Year. There’s a big reason he’s ranked No. 18 in the state of North Carolina’s 2025 class. James is probably one of the more college-ready guards in the NCHSAA at Holly Springs High who’s shown off his growth and development all season long as the unsung leader for the Golden Hawks this season. He produced 23.3 PPG, 6.3 RPG, 3.5 APG and 2.0 SPG while shooting 54 percent from the field and 42 percent from deep entering the month of February. James took home 73 percent of the vote to take home Player of the Year honors. He finished with 23 points in their season finale against Apex High to wrap up the regular season. He’ll be one to keep eyes on when the SWAC Conference Tournament ramps up this week as they’ll be the 3-seed.
James has finished with 502 points and counting for Holly Springs High as he’s set the junior-year record for most points in a single-season. Back on Dec. 28, he set the school-record for most points in a game with 41 points in a victory over Fuquay-Varina. He’ll be a top player in program history when it’s all said and done from a high school that’s also produced Kaden Shedrick (Texas) and Kaleb Scott (Presbyterian) He does whatever is needed for his team in order to help them be successful and he’s quite the gem in the state of North Carolina’s 2025 class. He’s got a nice feel for the game, especially shooting the ball on all levels and plays a physical brand of basketball that can’t be taught.
James beat out Isaac Ericksen Isaac Ericksen 6'8" | SF Green Level | 2025 State NC (Green Level), Israel Eatman Israel Eatman 6'4" | CG Green Level | 2025 State NC (Green Level) and Chris Uwayo Chris Uwayo 6'1" | CG Panther Creek | 2024 State NC (Panther Creek) to take home the award.
