Unsigned Senior Alert: Xavier Boyd
School: South Central HS
Class: 2017
Height: 6’5
During the NCHSAA playoffs I got a chance to watch South Central HS basketball team play in the Regional Semis at Fayetteville State University. Although they came up short they showed not only are they are a good team they also were a team that was very deep with talent, with two young 6’8+ bigs and very gifted guards we can see why they went so far. One of the players that stood out to me from a potential standpoint is unsigned senior wing Xavier Boyd. At 6’5 with a long wingspan he is a versatile player that can handle the ball and score it from deep as well as getting to the basket and finding ways to finish. At Fab 40 Camp he played very well against some of the top talent in the state on both ends of the floor, he uses his wingspan on defense to cause problems for opponents as well. There is no doubt in my mind that once he gets into the right college program he will do very well, a nice weight training program and the correct system will allow him to really excel.
What do you feel you can bring to a team on the next level?
Boyd: I feel like I can bring an all-around player, I pass the ball very well for my height I led my team in assist. I can score when I need to. I’ll bring leadership, and toughness.
How’s your recruitment?
Boyd: I been having a couple schools contact me now lately so it’s picking up more.
How was your experience Fab 40?
Boyd: The fab 40 camp was a wonderful experience. I enjoyed playing against other great players and going at it. Felt like playing in front of coaches boosted my confidence more as a player
