The Oklahoma State Tournament has come to an end and we saw plenty of good basketball in the Oklahoma City area. I was posted up at the Solid Rock facility, watching the 17U division and we had some competitive basketball throughout the weekend. In this post, we’re taking a look at several other standouts who either shined throughout the tournament or absolutely went off in a game that we were watching. Check out Prep Hoops Oklahoma for more coverage of the two-day event in the OKC area, not only in the 17U division, but we had everything covered.
Brant Teague – 2023 Guard
Oklahoma Showtime had a few teams at the tournament over the weekend and honestly I was impressed with the program. They had a good balance of talent throughout their teams as opposed to stacking one squad just to get wins. And several players stood out from the program. But without a doubt the one player who had the best performance in a game was Verdigris 2023 guard Brant Teague. The guard dropped 26 points on Saturday and would knock down eight (yes, eight) three-pointers. We saw some players absolutely fill it up from beyond the arc but Teague knocking down trey after trey was something that definitely caught our eye. Shooters definitely had the green light throughout the weekend and Teague was up their among the best of them.
Cade Youngblood – 2024 Guard
Edmond Memorial guard Cade Youngblood is a prospect I personally have watched at three tournaments now in the last two months. And I’ll say two things right up front. He’s continuing to improve this offseason and the growth from the first tournament to this last weekend is noticeable. And the passion that Youngblood plays with is something coaches wish they could get from all of their players. That’s what always stands out when I watch Youngblood plays. He’s going to give absolutely everything he can to help his team win. He might be in the ref’s ear every other end down the floor but if it gets him to the charity stripe, so be it. Youngblood plays hard, he plays smart and he plays with intensity.
Jamouri Mccalister – 2023 Guard
One of the very first standouts of the tournament was Del City 2023 guard Jamouri Mccalister while he was playing for Next Level. Mccalister could not be stopped in their first game of the tournament as he would drop 35 points. While he never got over the 30-point mark for the rest of the tourney, who put the rest of the division on notice that he was setting the pace for everyone else. I have probably 95 percent of the score sheets from this weekend’s games and I can’t find a point total higher than what the Del City product was able to produce early on Saturday. If he plays like he did this weekend, Del City just has even more firepower during the school season.
Matt Snyder – 2023 Guard
Our final standout is 2023 guard Matt Snyder after his performance playing with the Oklahoma Runners. This team had several players that performed incredibly well over the weekend, including Nathan Lancaster, who was part of our 17U Game Changers feature. Snyder also had a nice showing, especially in their second game of the tournament when he dropped 22 points. Almost all of those points came from the outside as he would knock down six three-pointers on Saturday afternoon. As we mentioned with Teague above, we saw several prospects absolutely light it up from beyond the arc over the weekend and Snyder was no exception during Saturday’s game.
