We continue with the stars of Saturday at Prep Hoops Live.  Players that continue to emerge on the Prep Hoops Circuit and people should get to know their names as they enter their prime years.

The Emergence of Jalen Langsy Jalen Langsy Jalen Langsy 5'11" | PG Shakopee | 2024 State MN

Jalen Langsy Jalen Langsy Jalen Langsy 5'11" | PG Shakopee | 2024 State MN was a key piece of the Shakopee Sabers 25-4 season in 2021-22.  He was a reserve guard that stepped off the bench and maintained a high level of play for a team that was top five in Class AAAA basketball in Minnesota all season.  You could see the talent was there, but the wondering was, where would Jalen go from there?

The answer is up.  Way up.

Minnesota Heat PBJ was in a top four pool in Indianapolis and they went 4-0.  This past weekend in Kansas City they were in a top four pool again, and went 4-0.  Their weekend MVP had to be Jalen.

Langsy was solid Saturday night when I viewed him scoring 16 curling screens or attacking with a couple dribbles to use that lefty stroke.  Langsy is a point guard that does a great job running the offense, but when the ball comes back to him he can fill it up.  And the best proof of that is what Jalen did to the Alabama Celtics:

  • A 21-0 run to start the game, on his own
  • 25 points in the first half
  • 8 threes made total
  • 35 points overall

Shakopee has another star emerging, and he’s doing so on one of the best 16 and Under teams in Minnesota.

Anish Can Be Your PG

Ramlall

It was hard not to notice all the NSIC schools that sat baseline when Wear Out the Net played and I don’t think it takes a genius to figure out that Anish Ramlall Anish Ramlall Anish Ramlall 6'2" | PG Rosemount | 2023 State MN was the player they had eyes on.

So what is to like? Let’s give it a top ten list....

  1. Rosemount had a solid season with Ramlall at lead guard but also as a scorer.  There were games when Caleb Siwek Caleb Siwek Caleb Siwek 6'1" | SG Rosemount | 2022 State MN was hurt and Ramlall shouldered the load helping them win four of seven during that tough stretch.
  2. Loyalty.  Anish is one of the more talented 2023 guards and he had teams asking him to switch but he stayed with this WOTN group that simply wins and plays team basketball.
  3. Team basketball, WOTN has a motto for how they play and Anish is a great example of that every game.
  4. Physically tough.  Anish is certainly a stronger player now and his approach attacking the rim to take contact and finish is something that grabbed my attention this weekend.
  5. Mentally tough.  He is a steady player and when defenses try and get into Ramlall and disrupt him, it’s damn near pointless.
  6. Ball control.   Ramlall rarely makes a bad decision with the ball which is why his turnover numbers are extremely low.
  7. Brilliant passer.  It’s not just the vision, it’s the timing of his delivery.
  8. Shooting.  If he’s not a 40% club member with feet set, he’s close.
  9. Pull-up.  That one dribble pull-up ranks with the best.
  10. Size.  Yes, Anish has grown and looks like the right sized for a scholarship D2 guard.

Eastview Pair Having a Big April

Adams

The Eastview Lighting are the definition of reloading. There is talent just oozing out of every level of that program.  Jamal Ambrose Jamal Ambrose Jamal Ambrose 6'10" | C Eastview | 2022 State MN played one full season of basketball on that varsity and he just picked Omaha over Northern Iowa, Western Michigan, and the interest from others that was starting to come.  Kayser Hassan Kayser Hassan Kayser Hassan 6'6" | PF Eastview | 2022 State MN wasn’t even on a basketball team as a junior and last winter he was a key ingredient to a great season.  Two years ago Henry Shannon II went from the JV as a junior to on the top ten list of Mr. Basketball and on scholarship at UMD.

So it come as no surprise that 6th Man Dylan Omweno Dylan Omweno Dylan Omweno 6'0" | PG Eastview | 2023 State MN and JV standout Myles Adams Myles Adams Myles Adams 6'5" | SF Eastview | 2023 State MN , are having outstanding springs playing with Minnesota Select, and look like they keep Eastview right there with the top Class AAAA top programs.  Omweno has been one of the tougher players to guard on the Prep Hoops Circuit this month with his bursting first step and that touch that he he can make from just about any spot on the floor.  Dylan is surely one of the top scoring options at guard in Minnesota’s 2022 class.

How about that shooting from Myles Adams Myles Adams Myles Adams 6'5" | SF Eastview | 2023 State MN ?  He hit four threes in the last game I saw Select play and word is Myles shot that well all weekend long.  When you add in that shooting success this month with the 6’6 frame that has the potential to be both a great defender and an explosive finisher, the potential is there for Myles Adams Myles Adams Myles Adams 6'5" | SF Eastview | 2023 State MN to be a nice college prospect and a big piece of the 2022-23 Lightning team.  Along with his brother Mario Adams Mario Adams Mario Adams 6'5" | SF Eastview | 2023 State MN .

Prep Hoops Live Notes

  • Kyle Jorgensen Kyle Jorgensen Kyle Jorgensen 6'9" | C Minneapolis Washburn | 2024 State #308 Nation MN of Minnesota Heat PBJ (Minneapolis Washburn) has that old school baby hook down.  Love his touch.
  • Will Kutzler Will Kutzler Will Kutzler 6'7" | PF Lakeville North | 2023 State MN .  A Lakeville North 6’6 big man who plays with Wear out the Net.  He was a nice JV player this past winter and now he is helping WOTN win games.  Scored 15 points against a long, agile defender calmly using good work to score a consistent total.
  • Kaiden Peters is one of the more consistent scorers in his class.  The Minnesota Lightning (PEM) guard worked the wing well entry passing, slashing, and knocking down a couple perimeter jumpers when I saw him twice this weekend.  Good athlete, consistently productive.
  • Owen Waldoch Owen Waldoch Owen Waldoch 6'7" | PF Forest Lake | 2024 State MN had another solid weekend.  The Heat PBJ/Forest Lake 6’6/6’7 forward has the touch to be a stretch four, the activity of a guy that produces points in the point as a four, and don’t look past his agility, Owen is a more agile people than I think people realize.
