came off the bench and made a difference for Eastview. He excels in that 6th man role where he comes off the bench and immediately brings a spark of offense with his speed and shot creating ability. Towards the end of the first half he hit two DEEP threes that sent his team into the break with confidence and the lead. His speed also made an impact defensively as he was able to jump passes for steals, and then get out into the open floor for a pair of dunks. With that 94 foot NBA court, no one stood a chance at catching up to him from behind. Omweno finished with 25 points and 3 steals in 25 minutes of action.

Dylan Omweno is a six-foot-two-inch guard from Eastview that last year was their Jamal Crawford sixth-man. Immediate offense off the bench punch. Now, 2023 senior, Omweno off a strong summer with Minnesota, is leading the Lightning’s offense, responsible not just for his own scoring, 10.9 points per contest, but getting the ball into the hands of the talent that surrounds him. In the month of February he’s turned his scoring up a notch however scoring 18 points per game, and doing it off the dribble in shot creation and from behind the arc.

has been coming off the bench and providing a massive spark for a very talented Eastview team. In the first half there was a sequence that saw Dylan knock down a pull-up jumper, hustle back to pick up a steal and save the ball from going out of bounds, and then he got up the floor again to knock down another pull-up jumper! He’s the type of player that can heat up in a hurry with his confidence growing with every made shot. Dylan has deep shooting range and is one of the fastest players in the state when he gets out in the open floor. In transition he was dangerous with his decision making regarding when to pass or when to keep it and finish.

Dylan caught fire in the win over Osseo. The senior guard connected with 4 three-pointers and was a very hard player to control defensively. He is a threat to score all the way from the volleyball line, as he was pulling up from deep in transition and in the half court. His shot mechanics are very smooth and he can get shots off quick. He was even able to show off his athleticism with a fast break one-hand throw down in the first half. Omweno had one of the best shooting performances I saw all day and finished the game with a team-high 16 points for Eastview.

Dylan turned in an excellent performance in Eastview’s win over a short-handed Totino-Grace team. He was ultimately getting whatever he wanted when he had the ball in his hands. He was unstoppable getting through the lane where he would then dish it off to a teammate for an assist or take it all the way and make a tough contested layup himself. This Eastview roster is experienced and very deep at each position. I would not be surprised at all if Omweno led this team in scoring and handled the majority of the ball handling duties.

As one of the fastest players in the state, Dylan once again proved to be difficult for defenders to stay in front of. He has a dangerous hesitation move as he’ll just lull his defender to sleep before exploding in the opposite direction towards the basket. Had some strong drives along the baseline where he was able to dump it off to size or kick it out to an open shooter. Dylan is a confident shooter from outside who creates his own shot with ease while also having some explosiveness in transition. Defensively he’s a long and lanky athlete who’s so good at jumping passes and quickly turning those steals into two points.
