Akande is an elusive player who plays with a lot of physicality. He has tight handles allowing him to break defenders down to get open shots. He looks to drive strong to the rim seeking contact for free-throw opportunities as well. Akande works the midrange game well and can draw double teams leaving his teammates open for shots. His release is high and quick and needs little to no room to get it off standing at 6’4″.

Akande is a creative player on offense and can do some special things with the basketball. He plays with different paces to his game and knows exactly when to use them in different situations. In the midrange, Akande has a nice floater game that seems to be an effective shot for him. He uses his tall 6’4″ size to fly in the paint and body defenders as he goes up around the rim. He can stop on a dime and hit the quick pull-up shot with no chance for a defender to get a contest up.

Akande has a long 6’4″ frame that he uses to his advantage as he can wrap around and swarm defenders looking to dribble by him. Once he pokes the ball loose he has the speed to get down the court and score at will. Akande has a bunch of moves he can go to once he gets into the paint. His long frame also allows him to take longer strides and glide farther in the air making it harder to put a body on him in transition.

Akande is the type of player that every coach would love to have on their team because of his lockdown defense and high-energy motor that never stops on the defensive end. He will press you the second the ball is inbounded never giving you an inch of breathing room to get by him. If you do get by Akande he will poke the ball free from behind. He’s excellent at picking off passing lanes and swarming ball handlers because of his 6’4″ size.

Akande is a player that has a lot of shiftiness to his game whenever moving around on the court. He can hit any shot that the defense gives him. Akande can weave in and out of traffic with his handles and hit tough step back shots. He even has a nice floater game that he can go to in the midrange area. The pick-n-roll is something that he excels in making sure he takes what the defense gives him. His high release point allows him to shoot over most defenders. Look for Akande to have a big senior year.

Akande has long arms that allow him to wrap around defenders from behind and strip the ball away from ball handlers whenever he gets beat off the dribble. He’s an elite one on one defender that if the ball handler tries to get fancy on him he will poke the ball away and he will be off to races to score on the other end. Akande will dive after every loose ball and is an excellent chase-down shot blocker.
