Playing under control and in rhythm in transition can always be a key factor for your team’s success. Here are players from the 2024 class who specialize in just that.
Seals may not have the elite quickness that other guards have, but he has great instincts and awareness to play an under-control game in the transition setting. His ability to time his steals allows him to make the correct pass once his team enters the fastbreak. Seals has a tight handle allowing him to get to the rim easier and finish at a high rate. He does an excellent job of protecting the ball away from lurking defenders.
Highlights
Massung does a lot of damage in the fastbreak in general. He’s very under control in this setting and seems to always make the correct play in front of him. Massung makes great outlet passes across the court giving his teammates easier shot opportunities. He can protect the ball and go up strong all in one motion while going uphill in the fastbreak. Massung can dribble around anyone that looks to stop him and can score in so many different ways once he passes half-court.
Akande has a long 6’4″ frame that he uses to his advantage as he can wrap around and swarm defenders looking to dribble by him. Once he pokes the ball loose he has the speed to get down the court and score at will. Akande has a bunch of moves he can go to once he gets into the paint. His long frame also allows him to take longer strides and glide farther in the air making it harder to put a body on him in transition.
Payne is a lightning-quick guard that can get up and down the court in a blink of an eye. He uses this speed to score at will once he’s in transition and is hard to pick up from a defensive standpoint. Payne’s tight and under-control handles allow him to get anywhere on the court and any shot he wants. He has got excellent vision to find his teammates leaking out for the easier basket.
Highlights
Price standing at 6’5″ at the small forward position has a lot of flexibility in his game. He’s got great timing and instincts to steal the ball in the middle of a pass. His speed and athleticism allow him to get whatever he wants in the transition setting. Price will look to put a body on you and look to finish through the contact. He can make long outlet passes to his teammates and keep the ball under control in his possession.
