Day 3 of the state tournament had some of Florida’s biggest stars on display. 7A’s semifinal matchups were the primer for 1A and 3A state championship games. Let’s breakdown each team’s top performer.

Dr. Phillips

[player_tooltip player_id="829411" first="Riley" last="Kugel"] pushed his team to the state title with a 27 point performance. The Mississippi State commit shot 3 of 5 from distance, including several looks from the NBA line. He welcomes contact at the rim using his size and athleticism to finish over the defense. Kugel is a great passer for an off guard. His no look passing and drive and kick game notched 5 assist to just one turnover. He has a tight handle that allows him to create space for a consistent jumper in the midrange and from deep. He’s a sound defender with the length and athleticism to bother ball handlers and go after shots at the rim.

Seminole

[player_tooltip player_id="814929" first="Uchenna" last="Kellman"]-Nicholes gave Seminole the spacing they needed for their athletic guards to operate. Kellman is a big 6’4 guard with a quick release. He was dialed in from beyond the line, making 5 of his 9 three point attempts. The unsigned senior finished the night with a team high 18 points. He can attack closeouts where his physically mature frame helps him finish through contact.

Columbus

[player_tooltip player_id="1301714" first="Cameron" last="Boozer"] is a special prospect. He’s a 6’8 point forward with the handle and vision to be an offensive focal point. Boozer is a monster on the boards, finishing with 16 rebounds in the semifinals. His timing and athletic burst make him an astute shot blocker. The freshman is already equipped with a jumper beyond the college line. It’s hard to put a ceiling on this 2025 prospect.

Lake Worth

Calvin Sirmans led his team in scoring with 19 points. The 5’7 guard didn’t have the best night from the field, but the way he creates space for his shot is next level. He’s a dynamic guard with range beyond the college line. As a smaller guard, he understands the angles he needs to take to avoid shot blockers. Sirmans has an exciting level of athleticism that fuels his shifty nature and allows him to make plays most player his size can’t.

Florida High

Tre Donaldson and [player_tooltip player_id="962384" first="Anthony" last="Robinson"] were neck and neck for top performer. Tre’s motor ran hot all game long. He started off the first five minutes, affecting every aspect of the game. He shot well from midrange, made plays through contact, and made the best of the turnovers he created. Robinson was great on the defensive end. He was the primary defender on Lluberes, hardly allowing him to get his shot off. He had active hands causing deflections and steals all game. The junior has great length for a 6’3 guard. He shot well from deep, knocking down three of his six attempts. His combination of length and athleticism allows him to finish over defenders. Body control helps him shield the ball from shot blocks.

Riviera Prep

[player_tooltip player_id="814913" first="Esteban" last="Lluberes"] was the instant offense his team needed to stay in the game. The Lynn University commit has ridiculous range in his jumper. He was 4 of 9 from deep, scoring a game high 28 points. Lluberes isn’t the biggest guy on the court, but thanks to dexterity and a strong frame, he can finish amongst the trees. He can shift his defender with quick crossovers to gain space for his jumper. The 2022 prospect has instant impact potential.

Paxton

[player_tooltip player_id="829391" first="Latrell" last="Sanders"] is a sleeper in the class of 2022. Sanders received an offer from Coastal Alabama South the day of the semifinals. The 6 foot guard has deep range on his jumper and the speed to create separation. He’ll enter the next level with a well built frame that can still add muscle.
