This conference features one of two teams in the Cincinnati area that finished the regular season undefeated in Summit Country Day along with some of the premier scorers in the area. Here is the all-conference team for the MVC Scarlet Division.
All MVC-Scarlet Team:
Sam Martin- Summit Country Day
2016-17 Stats: 15.8 PPG, 2.9 APG, 2.5 SPG
Fresh off of a state soccer championship, Martin solidified himself as one of the top point guards in Ohio. Sam finished fifth in the conference in scoring, fourth in assist, second in field goal percentage at 57.9% and fourth in steals. The 5’10 senior is receiving interest from the D-II/-III level at the moment.
Jacob McElfresh- Clark Montessori
2016-17 Stats: 18.8 PPG, 4.1 RPG, 2 SPG, 49% FG
Jacob is one of the more complete guards in the city with the ability to play both backcourt positions. His 18.8 points per game was good enough to finish second in the MVC (MVC has two divisions, Scarlet and Gray division) in his last season for Clark. McElfresh is currently receiving interest at the Division III level.
Alex Dahling- Summit Country Day
2016-17 Stats: 15.2 PPG, 3.6 RPG, 47% 3FG
Alex proved that he is one of the better shooters in Ohio, shooting over 48% from the floor and 47% from three. Teamed up with Sam Martin and Xavier Johnson to form one of the best perimeter trio’s in Cincinnati. Dahling, a senior, is receiving interest at the low Division I and Division II level.
Lorenzo Sparks- North College Hill
2016-17 Stats: 20.1 PPG, 6.4 RPG, 3.2 SPG
With the type of season that he just had, Mr. Sparks is looking to make himself a household name in Cincinnati. The junior guard led the MVC in scoring while finishing second in steals per game. Sparks is also very adept at getting to the free throw line as he averaged 7.7 free throws attempted per game. Expect to hear Lorenzo name a lot during the grassroots season.
TJ Walker- Summit
2016-17 Stats: 13 PPG, 7 RPG, 2.2 APG, 58.5% FG
One of the better athletes and defenders in the Cincinnati area, Walker finished fifth in the conference in rebounding and first and field goal percentage. Plays very well in traffic which you do not find too often.
