Big-time prospects are set to take centerstage, but there are also under the radar players set to have a good showing. Here are the under the radar prospects to watch at the Metro Classic.
Dasear Haskins Dasear Haskins 6'8" | SF Camden | 2023 State NJ , 6’6 SF Camden 2023
Haskins had a big game against Sierra Canyon in Allentown in his last big-time appearance and should have another strong showing at the Metro Classic. The 6’6 lefty has a smooth shooting stroke and can get hot from distance in a hurry. Haskins is more than just a shooter as he can also put the ball on the floor and finish around the basket. He has the length and athleticism to defend multiple positions and is an underrated rebounder. Haskins’ ability to stretch the floor is something that will help himself and Camden at the Metro Classic.
Nick Losada Nick Losada 6'2" | SG Gill St. Bernard's | 2023 State NJ , 6’2 SG Gill St. Bernard’s 2023
Losada may come off the bench for the Knights, but he has the opportunity to make an impact at the Metro Classic. The 6’2 guard has a nice release on his jumper and does not waste a lot of motion in his shot. Losada moves exceptionally well off the ball, creating open layups and jumpers for himself. He does not force the issue in the half court and can get deflections on the defensive end. Losada will be looking to make an instant impact off the bench for Gill St. Bernard’s this weekend at the Metro Classic.
Elijah Flournoy Elijah Flournoy 6'3" | SG Covenant College Prep | 2023 State NJ , 6’3 SG Bergen Catholic 2022
Sophomore Brandon Benjamin Brandon Benjamin 6'7" | PF St. Thomas More | 2025 State New E is another name to watch for the Crusaders, but Flournoy’s experience will come into play at the Metro Classic. The 6’3 wing works hard on both ends of the floor and is willing to dive on the floor for loose balls. Flournoy is at his best attacking the basket as he has the athleticism to finish above the rim and can draw contact. He skies for rebounds on both ends of the floor and has the length to defend multiple positions. Flournoy is a glue guy for Bergen Catholic who should continue to do the little things against Montverde Academy at the Metro Classic.
Korbyn Samuels, 6’3 SG/SF Patrick School 2023
Samuels has had an immediate impact for the Celtics this season and it should translate into a good showing at the Metro Classic. The 6’3 wing is at his best going to the basket as he can finish in a variety of ways and is capable of drawing contact. Samuels is more than just a slasher as he can score in the mid-range and knock down open jumpers on the perimeter. He is a strong rebounder and uses his athleticism to make plays on the defensive end. Samuels is an athletic wing prospect who should turn heads at the Metro Classic.
Tyler Lingham, 6’4 SG St. Peter’s Prep 2022
The marauders have a huge match-up against Camden at the Metro Classic and Lingham is a prospect to track. The 6’4 guard has a confident shooting stroke and is capable of getting hot from distance in a hurry. Lingham is more than just a shooter as he can also get to the rim form the perimeter and finish around the basket. He is an underrated passer and has the length to defend multiple positions on the floor. Lingham is a lanky wing prospect who will be one to watch at the Metro Classic.
