Benjamin might be the most overlooked player in the region, and I’m honestly quite flabbergasted he isn’t getting high-major looks. His combination of size and skill is just not something you come around often at all; as I’ve said many times now, people his size are not supposed to move with that level of agility and coordination. And, despite his shot looking a bit wonky, I’ve seen enough to claim that he can knock down shots relatively consistently from the three-point line. I would be all over him if I were a high-major coach or recruiting coordinator, and I think they’ll be kicking themselves next year.

Benjamin was, in my opinion, the unequivocal best player on the floor in STM’s first round matchup against VA. The 6-foot-7 senior continues to impress me with his ABSURD combination of size, heft, and skill – people that big are simply not supposed to move the way he does. He knocked down a bunch of threes in addition to showing off his really impressive handle. He was also a menace in the paint defensively, using his insane wingspan to alter TONS of shots. He’s really special, and I think he could have another huge game against New Hampton on Saturday. High major player in my opinion.

I’m so impressed with Benjamin’s athleticism. He’s 6-foot-7 but very long and very strong, which allows him to play the big position better than most other guys his size. However, he can also step out and handle, shoot, and pass the ball like a guard. I’m honestly pretty surprised he’s not getting more high-major looks; I’m sure schools are hesitant about his ability to play forward or center at the D1 level, but he’s so versatile and well-rounded that he doesn’t even have to play inside the paint. Very special athlete and player – it’s rare to come across guys with his body who are as light on their feet.

Benjamin is a very large individual with a ridiculous skill set. He’s 6-foot-7 and is built like a defensive end, but he handles the ball and runs the floor like a 6-foot guard — It’s really special to watch. He bodies absolutely everybody in the paint and has some solid footwork and craft with multiple guard-like finishing moves. He can even step out and make some threes when he’s open. In the open floor, he has great handles and made a couple insane behind-the-back moves throughout Sunday’s game that players his size simply shouldn’t be able to make. Definite D1 guy.

Benjamin showed he could make plays for others with his passing. He found moving cutters with ease. He is able to guard 1-5 and which is very translatable to modern basketball. He was in good spots to collect rebounds. Benjamin loves doing the dirty work. His game isn’t flashy but it produces results. Division one programs in need of an undersized forward need to add Benjamin to their list.

-The fact that he finished with a near 20-point double-double in a mediocre performance by his standards speaks to Benjamin’s upside as a prospect. The athletic W/F tweener can take forwards off the bounce, works hard to extend possessions with offensive rebounds, handles it well enough to grab a defensive board and run the break, and guards at a pretty high level. Benjamin brings a workmanlike approach to the game, filling the gaps of whatever role or production his team needs to come away with wins.

If you want to talk about risers, there may be no bigger ones this weekend than Brandon Benjamin. Brandon was a monster on both sides of the ball. He had a complete performance and turned a lot of heads. He was great at protecting the paint and collected rebounds at a high rate. He showed off his shooting ability and high level of ability to score in the paint. Brandon has elite length at 6’8 with a 7’2 Wingspan. The wingspan allows him to play a lot bigger, which is saying a lot for a guy who is already 6’8. Brandon has the potential to be a great and versatile D1 defender.

Benjamin is a double-double machine that runs the floor extremely well for his size. Standing at 6’7″ at the power forward position he can hurt you down low in the post with a bag of moves or hit the occasional outside shot if you give him the space. Benjamin is ferocious on the boards, especially on the offensive end. He has a great pump fake to go up right away for the easy bucket.  Benjamin will only continue to get better with his modern-day playstyle.

Benjamin has a ton of hustle to his game. He finishes strong around the rim with both hands making defenders guess to which side he will drive. He likes to sky in for offensive rebounds, which leads to his team recording more second-chance points. Benjamin has a strong upper body to finish through contact and put a body on a defender. His game has all the tools to be one of the best inside players in this class.
