Expert Analysis
Ryan Morgan | Prep Hoops Scout
Previous Rank: 57rnFenz is a technically sound, big-bodied scorer who can score from all levels. His size and strength help him get off tightly defended shots from the mid-range and behind the arc, while also fending off defenders at the rim. But it’s his footwork that helps him get the defense off balance and create space on the perimeter, or step through traffic on his way to the paint.

It would be hard to find a better stat line in week one. He scored 31 and had 10 rebounds in a 81-74 loss to Hermiston. He followed that with his third 30 plus performance with 32 in a 64-40 win over Eastlake. He is tough from all levels, inside and out. He was an all league first team pick last year for Ellensburg. He appears to be an early season favorite to challenge for league MVP this season. He will have competition from his own teammate. Returning all-league player also has a great skill set for his size. He can score from inside and out, making Ellensburg a tough matchup for teams to handle. He’s a tough competitor and a good compliment to the big man. You have two of the top players in 2A with these two. Ellensburg is my pick to have the best shot at a title from the east side, along with a team from the Greater Spokane district that I will mention later.

Another 1st team CWAC player from a year ago, I will use him as my sixth man. I know I can plug him into any position on the floor with his versatility. I have two players from Ellensburg, which can only help my team as they are already used to playing with each other. He’s tough player, who can play inside and out. He averaged 14PPG last season and he shot 90% from the free throw line. Maybe the best indicator of a good shooter. He scored 42 points in a summer league game, so I am confident that he can add instant offense off the bench, to go with the toughness and willingness to rebound. He’s got good size, and can give the west some matchup problems.

A returning all league player for Ellensburg. Like his taller teammate Marrs, he’s also skilled and at 6’5, Ellensburg has some options with these two. They will be a problem in 2A, and should be a good bet to get to Yakima, and make some noise.
