8. Deon Perry Deon Perry 5'8" | PG Mt. Carmel | 2022 State MD | 5’8 | Mt. Carmel (Loyola MD)
Perry has defended our high ranking of him after he absolutely dominated the DMV Live weekends back in June. At 5-foot-9, Perry’s elite outside shooting ability off the bounce, high-level feel for the game as a passer and accurate, pesky hands defensively allows him to impact the game at both ends. He has Mt. Carmel in a position to make a push in 2022 in the BCL/MIAA and should play a load of minutes as a freshman in college under head coach Tavaras Hardy.
18. Devin Dinkins Devin Dinkins 5'10" | PG Gonzaga | 2022 State MD | 5’10 | Gonzaga (George Mason)
Dinkins has Gonzaga off to a great start with a 6-0 record. He’s proving his worth as a conductor who can stretch defenses with range on his shot. He has a good feel for the game and has spurts where he makes the game look incredibly simple. Dinkins has an array of moves in his bag to create both for himself or others, while his IQ translates to the defensive end where he plays with energy.
25. Devon Barnes Devon Barnes 6'1" | PG Mt. Zion Prep | 2022 State MD | 6’1 | Mt. Zion Prep
Barnes has always been able to put the ball in the basket at a high volume ever since I first saw him as a rising sophomore at Will Barton Elite Camp. Now in his final year at the high school level, Barnes is beginning to show real signs of becoming more of an all-around floor general. Before attending Mt. Zion, Barnes was by far the best offensive threat on his prior teams, which forced him to become an even more aggressive scorer. He brings the energy defensively that is needed at his position and bring intensity that flows through his teammates.
27. Ty Williams Ty Williams 6'1" | PG Rock Creek Christian | 2022 State MD | 6’1 | Rock Creek Christian
Williams runs the show for Rock Creek and does so at a high-level while contributing to multiple statistical categories. He gets into the paint with regularity thanks to his shifty ways with the basketball. He can score at a decent level from all three areas, but isn’t a tunnel vision scorer when he gets in the heart of the defense. Williams also crashes the glass at a plus rate for his position and can defend either guard spot.
29. Rob Lawson Rob Lawson 5'9" | PG National Christian | 2022 State MD | 5’9 | National Christian
Lawson remains one of the better available prospect of the MD/DC senior class. He’s a well-rounded floor general who can contribute to a handful of box score categories at a steady rate. People seem to write him off quickly due to his size, but he comes with intangibles such as toughness and underrated athleticism that allows him to get above the rim for finishes occasionally in the open floor. I wouldn’t say that Lawson is better at one particular thing over another, but what you’ll get with him is a shot-maker, heady distributor and dependable ball handler who also provides a presence defensively. Lawson is a scholarship-level prospect.
30. Vakaris Grauslys Vakaris Grauslys 6'2" | PG West Nottingham | 2022 State MD | 6’1 | West Nottingham Academy
I’ve written about Grauslys to exhaustion in the last month, but his play helped him earn a well-deserved ranking of No. 30 in his debut in the rankings. He’s a balanced guard who plays with a chip on his shoulder and provides leadership as a floor general. He can get going from deep off the catch, has good instincts in ball-screen scenarios and finishes with creativity on his layups.
34. Cam’ron Brown Cam’ron Brown 5'10" | PG Archbishop Carroll | 2022 State MD | 5’10 | Archbishop Carroll
Brown has good feel as a lead guard an understands how to control the pace of a game. He picks his spots effectively as a scorer, but prioritizes getting his teammates in positions where they thrive. Brown possesses plenty of the intangibles that coaches need in their point guard.
35. Ryan Archey Ryan Archey 6'0" | PG Gwynn Park | 2022 State MD | 6’0 | Gwynn Park
Archey is another bucket-getter on this list who can light the scoring column up in a hurry. His quick-twitch ability is evident in isolations or ball-screens where he attack his defender with shifty crossovers, creates space and gets into his jumper with pace and balance. He’s not going to finish over the rim consistently, but he still manages to finish while being contested by opposing shot-blockers due to the craft that he uses. Division II and Division III programs are keeping tabs on Archey as he looks to lead a good Gwynn Park squad to the Xfiinity Center.
36. Dorian Jones Dorian Jones 6'2" | PG Parkville | 2022 State MD | 6’2 | Parkville
Jones has hit the scene since transferring to Parkville and quickly become a gem of a prospect for JuCo and prep programs. His high-flying finishes around the rim, dependable three-point shot and ability to operate off the bounce make him a tough matchup. While he can score in a variety of ways, he doesn’t get tunnel vision on drives and has proven to make sound reads as the defense rotates. Jones is at his best in both areas when playing in open space. Defensively, he takes pride in his individual matchup and moves his feet well laterally to stay in front of shifty guards.
38. Kyle Gaskins Kyle Gaskins 6'1" | PG Coolidge | 2022 State MD | 6’1 | Coolidge
Gaskins has generated more college interest over the last month or so and is being monitored closely by Division II programs. He’s at his best playing off the ball where he can look to score, but can use his scoring threat to his advantage and create for others as a result. He’s one of the steady producers that Coolidge will count on as the season progresses.
