The freshman class has yet to play a varsity game, but they should make an impact in their debut season. Here are the freshmen prospects who are set to appear in the 2025 debut rankings.
Darius Adams, 6’2 SG Manasquan
Adams had a strong summer with Team Rio University, which should lead to a big first season. The 6’2 guard has a clean release on his jumper and can bury triples in bunches. Adams is more than just a shooter as he can take his defender off the bounce and finish around the basket. He is capable of running the offense in a pinch and is an underrated defender. Adams is a high-scoring wing prospect who should take the Shore Conference by storm in 2021-22.
Chase Coleman, 6’1 PG Patrick School
Coleman joins a strong Celtics’ backcourt, but he will still be able to carve out a role in the team. The 6’1 guard has a tight handle, which he uses to get into the lane to create plays. Coleman is a good finisher around the rim and can knock down open shots from deep when given pace. He has a good feel for running the offense and is rarely sped up by on-ball pressure. Coleman’s ability to run the offense is something that will help his stock during his first season in the Garden State.
Peter Mouro, 6’0 PG Gill St. Bernard’s
Mouro may not start the season for the Knights, but he will have a big role for coach Mergen Sina in season 1. The 6’0 floor general plays with composure with the ball in his hands and is rarely sped up by on-ball pressure. Mouro has a good handle, which he uses to get into the lane and finish. He runs the offense efficiently and can knock down open jumpers from distance. Mouro is a skilled point guard prospect who will be a key part to Gill St. Bernard’s success this season.
Danny Murray, 6’4 SG Roselle Catholic
The Lions have one of the top backcourts in the Garden State, but that should not stop Murray from playing a key part in their system. The 6’4 lefty has a smooth shooting stroke and will make opponents pay for giving him space on the perimeter. Murray moves well off the ball, creating open jumpers and layups for himself. He is an underrated ball-handler and moves his feet on the defensive end. Murray’s ability to stretch the floor is something that will help him get on the floor early in his debut season for Roselle Catholic.
Char Yeiy, 6’9 PF Blair Academy
Yeiy is one of the more intriguing prospects in the 2025 class and should put it on display for the Buccaneers this season. The lanky 6’9 forward runs the floor hard and can finish around the basket. Yeiy is working on his range and shows off a nice release on his jumper. He uses his length to alter shots around the basket and is one of the top shot-blockers in the class. Yeiy will be a prospect to track this season with his combination of length, athleticism and skill.
