What Class of 2024 prospects are in for big sophomore seasons? Obviously, names like [player_tooltip player_id="1069620" first="Marcus" last="Allen"] are a shoe-in. He is phenomenal at 6-foot-6 and offers a nice window on the future of South Florida basketball. In addition, [player_tooltip player_id="1053915" first="Stone" last="Bureau"] will have a huge season at Suncoast.

I will be talking about both players a lot this season so I would like to focus on other prospects. Look for a follow-up piece in the coming days.

Let’s look into it...

[player_tooltip player_id="1163362" first="Ralph" last="Blanc"] - Mater Lakes

Blanc spent his freshman season at SLAM! Miami. He has since moved on to Hialeah to play at Mater Lakes Academy. On the circuit, Blanc ran with Team Hardaway Jr. I think his play this summer will show up in his game at Mater Lakes Academy. Blanc already has a good frame at 6-foot-6 and will continue to put on weight (180 pounds). His power and athleticism will be a factor in the frontcourt. I think Blanc could be a prospect that will have you saying "who is this kid" in the stands. I like his chances to be a good player.

Angelo Miranda - Columbus

Miranda is a 6-foot-3 guard with a lot of potential. He averaged 6.4 points and 6.5 rebounds on a Columbus team that won 16 games. Moreover, he scored a season-high 11 points against Coral Gables and had a pair of ten rebound games against Ransom Everglades and Pace. Miranda will also provide steals and block shots. He should get more opportunities with 2021’s [player_tooltip player_id="818777" first="Reggie" last="Luis"] and [player_tooltip player_id="953477" first="Hubertas" last="Pivorius"] departing.

[player_tooltip player_id="1163365" first="Alex" last="Soto"] - Miami Palmetto

[player_tooltip player_id="1163365" first="Alex" last="Soto"] played his freshman season at Doral Academy. The 6-foot-5 guard has since moved on to the Panthers. At Doral, Soto averaged 3.7 points per game over 15 contests. While those are modest numbers, he did shoot well when given the opportunity. Soto and Sagemont transfer Braylon Burbridge should give Miami Palmetto a huge lift. I really like Burbridge’s handle and play off the dribble. The 6-foot guard can really go and is only getting better. Look for Burbridge to showcase his skill at his new home. I think you will see his offensive numbers explode and playmaking ability on full display.

[player_tooltip player_id="1163358" first="Malik" last="Abdullahi"] - Columbus

Abdullahi is an emerging star in Miami-Dade County. He already proved his worth last season after averaging 8.4 points, 9.9 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game. Moreover, Abullahi went 13-of-38 (34 percent) from deep. That might not be much, but it shows he can hit from outside. The 6-foot-7 small forward can run the floor and finish in transition. Therefore, he could be a mismatch problem this season from anywhere on the court. The best is yet to come for him.

[player_tooltip player_id="1055725" first="Clarence" last="Burts"] - Miami Norland

A great situation with coach Lawton Williams and playing with [player_tooltip player_id="1069620" first="Marcus" last="Allen"] should give Burts the green light for a big season. Burts is an athletic 6-foot-3 guard that connected on 44 percent of his 3-point attempts. He also grabbed 55 rebounds per available statistics. So we know Burts can shoot a bit and use his length to grab boards. I think the volume of his play should only go up from here.
