Jay Anderson | Prep Hoops Scout
Kornegay returns for New Hanover High after missing much of the 2023-24 season due to injury. He produced 11.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists per contest through 13 games before being sidelined. He’s an X-Factor prospect with room to grow in the 2025 rankings with a good showing in the non-conference schedule. He’s a sizeable prospect who can handle the ball, make things happen for others and also quite the shooting threat when he finds his rhythm.

Kornegay saw his season cut short in 2023-24 with New Hanover High due to injury but he returns at 111th in the latest rankings update as he looks to get back on the hardwood. He’ll certainly free things up in the painted area/frontcourt for the Wildcats with his presence around the rim. Look for him to turn heads in 2024-25.

One of the new additions to the New Hanover squad, he already seems to be fitting in well with the talented guards that return from last season. He runs the floor well and uses his combination of height and athleticism to make plays on both ends of the floor.
