Expert Analysis

Wright-Mcghee stretched defenses well beyond the arc. The 6’2 guard is a knockdown shooter who isn’t afraid to pull from deep, anywhere past half court. Wright-Mcghee also showed a tight handle and the ability to attack the rim aggressively, creating contact and forcing fouls. His scoring versatility made him tough to scheme against.

In a dominating win over South Meck, New Hanover had 10 people score at least two points and Jazir was 2nd on the list with 16 points on 5/8 shooting from the field. He’s coming into his own as a prospect this year showcasing a more polished game with the ball in his hands and has upped his overall production in the process.

Another guy that is getting the job done on a team with real state championship expectations. Wright-McGee has grown to about 6’2″ now and continuing to make real strides in his game at New Hanover. His ability to make plays off the bounce is legit, he’s averaging 13.6 Points per game through 7 games on the year. He’s also averaging 4.9 Assists, 4.0 Rebounds, and 2.4 Steals per game. He’s taken a considerable step in role, each season at New Hanover while being ready for the challenge each and every time. Expect his progression to continue and Wright-McGee to help New Hanover on what should be another lengthy playoff run.

In their matchup with Jack Britt HS, he clearly was the top player on the floor and go to his spots just about whenever he wanted. We love the fact that he plays the game at his own tempo, is a willing passer and can score the ball from each level with efficiency.

Another guy that I could have listed with the combo guards handled based on his skill set and his ability to play in either spot. He shot the ball at a high clip and used his length and athletic ability to keep pressure on the rim. New Hanover lost one game this time around at the ECI and he was the driving force behind the bulk of their offense.

Wright-Mcgee is having a productive spring already in the Warriors Life Elite rotation on the grassroots scene; he’s fresh off a strong year in the New Hanover backcourt; averaged 7.5 ppg, 2.2 rpg and 1.5 spg; should really come into his own as a scorer/playmaker this summer

He led Warriors Life Elite to a 2-2 record while leading the 16U Slam Division in scoring with 73 total points on 18.3 points per game. His ability to make an impact on both ends of the floor isn’t easy to find on the hardwood. He’s an electric guard for college programs to track after contributing to New Hanover’s run to the state championship game.

Wright-Mcgee was another 2027 prospect who made his presence felt on both ends of the floor. He could have easily taken home the top defender award when it was all said and done as he was all over the floor defensively making his presence felt. He’s a prospect with a bright future ahead of him in the New Hanover High rotation.

Wright-Mcgee had himself a productive varsity debut with New Hanover as they made it all the way to the NCHSAA 4A State Championship game. He’s an athletic combo guard who’s just scratching the surface of what he can do on both ends of the floor given his length and athleticism. He put up 3.3 PPG, 2.1 RPG and 1.0 SPG in 2023-24.
