Sun Bash: Knockdown Shooters and Instant Offense

Shot-making was at a premium at the Sun Bash, and these five players consistently changed games with their ability to score in bunches. Whether it was spacing the floor, swinging momentum, or delivering timely buckets, each of these shooters proved they only needed a small window to make a big impact. Brown was one of the most confident scorers in the gym. The 6'5 guard let it fly whenever defenders gave him space and punished closeouts with his sneaky bounce around the rim. Brown put points up in a hurry and backed it up with a 27-point performance on Day 1, earning Player of the Game honors and establishing himself as a true scoring threat. Simmons delivered one of the most clutch performances of the tournament. The 6'0 senior knocked down threes across all three days, keeping First Academy within striking distance every time the game tightened up. Simmons finished Day 1 with six threes, then capped off Day 3 by scoring the final eight points, including a game-winning three. His poise and shot selection stood out. Wright-Mcghee stretched defenses well beyond the arc. The 6'2 guard is a knockdown shooter who isn't afraid to pull from deep, anywhere past half court. Wright-Mcghee also showed a tight handle and the ability to attack the rim aggressively, creating contact and forcing fouls. His scoring versatility made him tough to scheme against. Calhoun provided timely scoring when his team needed it most. The 6'0 guard showcased elite shot-making at all three levels, consistently converting off the catch and punishing defenses. Calhoun's ability to get a bucket on demand made him a key offensive piece throughout the event. Ziyaettin made defenses pay for even the slightest mistake. The 6'3 lefty is a true sharpshooter who thrives spotting up along the arc and knocking down daggers when given space. Ziyaettin demanded constant attention, and face-guarding him was often the only way to limit his impact.
