The event featured multiple AAU teams from all three of the shoe sponsored leagues where teams got to matchup against each other. Below is the second part of my takeaways from the games that took place on Saturday.
DeShawn Harris-Smith DeShawn Harris-Smith 6'5" | SF Paul VI | 2023 State #53 Nation VA Making Strides
Harris-Smith is starting to become the player we thought he would be and that is a high major prospect. Harris-Smith has gotten a lot stronger and is becoming a dominant two way impact player. He is a workhorse throughout the game and is turning into one of the better 2023 prospects in the entire DMV.
Queen Sits At The Top In 2024
Believe it or not, this was actually my first time seeing Queen in person and he immediately showed me that he will be making some good money one day from the sport of basketball. As my colleague Colby Giacubeno always says, there are only a handful of people you can call a future pro but Queen is one. The 6’8 do it all forward was just awarded for being the top freshman in all of high school this past season by Max Preps.
Malachi Palmer Malachi Palmer 6'6" | SF Mt. Zion Prep | 2024 #53 Nation MD Is Elite
Palmer, who is a teammate of Queen’s on Team Thrill, is the other elite prospect from the 2024 class in the Thrill organization. I first saw Palmer last summer at the Hoop Group Future All American Camp where he was a standout and his game has progressed well since then. Palmer has good size standing at 6’5 and is one of the smoother offensive players I have seen thus far from the 2024 class. Palmer has a pure jumper that will be very attractive to college coaches once they can get back on the road to evaluate prospects.
Michael Moore On The Verge Of A Breakout
Moore has been one of the top breakout players that I have seen this past spring and has seen his recruitment take off since the beginning of the AAU season. We just recently discussed his breakout here and he will continue to receive high major interest if he keeps dominating like he did in West Virginia. Moore has been a dominant force around the rim on both sides of the ball and is a reason Team Thrill is off to such a great start this spring.
Future Looks Bright In The DMV
As another graduating class is set to leave us in the DMV and head to college, we start to look at the next wave of hoopers in the area. The future looks really bright and it was great to see some of the future stars at the TTYS Showcase as the 2023 and 2024 class looks to be very good. It is also important to note how great it was to see opposing shoe company teams matchup against each other. The TTYS Showcase was a major success and I definitely hope it continues to be an annual event.
