Hosted by Vegas Elite, the event features over 100 programs across 8 different divisions. The action got started early on Friday evening, with several players making an impact. In this article, we take a look at the standouts from Day1 of the event.
Kyle Lemke 6’7 PF Team Flight 2024 (featured image) – Lemke was the best player I saw on the day. He grabbed every available rebound, ran like a deer, and managed to score around the basket. His rim running was his most impressive skill, and it was as if he was programmed to change ends, the instant the ball went through the net. He also added some shot-blocking and rim protection, all in all, a good day for the freshmen.
Jager Francom 6’7 PF Utah Supreme 2024 – It took me a second to figure out who this kid reminded me of, then it hit me. High school version of the Joker. Francom is a skilled big, that can stretch the floor a bit, but is at his best when he is making plays for teammates. He hit several teammates with pinpoint backdoor passes leading to easy baskets.
Will Warner 5’11 PG Fastbreak 2023 – Warner is a winner plain and simple. I’m not simply speaking hyperbole either, he made a last-second tip in to win a game today for fastbreak. The PG showed his relentless desire, by coming from out of nowhere to grab the board and lay it in as time expired. No surprise it was him either. Warner spent most of the game playing ferocious on-ball defense and protecting the ball so his team could get a good shot, each time down.
Jett Lundberg Jett Lundberg 6'2" | PG Alta | 2022 State UT 6’0 PG Salt Lake Rebels 2022 – Lundberg showed a little wiggle, and the ability to separate from defenders. What I liked about him the most, was his ability to play in transition. Lundberg delivered several pinpoint passes on the move, setting up teammates for easy buckets.
Griffin Sheppard Pineview 2024 – Sheppard played with a crazy motor. He had a big-time chase-down block, and several steals. While his on-ball defense is his best skill, his toughness is his calling card. Sheppard battled for in traffic rebounds, took bumps on his way to the basket, and kept on competing. He was the top high motor player I saw on the day.
