2020 HANKAMP’S TURKEY DAY AWARD WINNERS
Julian Lewis Julian Lewis 6'5" | SG Ann Arbor Huron | 2021 State MI (2021, SG, Ann Arbor Huron)
I can’t think of a young man more deserving of winning the Turkey Day Award. He’s a high IQ player that has an excellent natural feel for the game. He’s perhaps one of the top 2 way players in Michigan. That being said, Lewis is nothing short of a stopper on the defensive end. So much so, that I can’t see him not playing a role immediately as a freshman at William & Mary next season. Lewis wasn’t always a top 10 prospect, but he grinded to get to be this level of a player. It took good old fashioned hard work, and here he is. Even greater than his basketball skill set, is the class with which Lewis approaches the game and life in general. You won’t find a classier person and competitor, I promise you that. All these things make it an honor to join an elite group of players that have been named Turkey Day Award winners.
Blake Lund Blake Lund 6'1" | CG Linden | 2021 State MI (2021, CG, Linden)
Lund absolutely had to win the Turkey Day Award this year. The young man does a little of everything on the basketball court. He’s a nasty perimeter defender, can handle the ball, he’s a marksmen from behind the arc, and will hit open teammates with a pass on a string. What is it that sets him apart? He plays at such a high level, minus the fanfare that some other players get. He never complains though. Lund just keeps working and improving as a player. He’s been severely underrated since he stepped in the gym as a freshman. I’ve seen him at numerous showcases where he was one of the top players among all the ‘big names’. Lund is going to be a very solid player at the next level…..Mark my words. For right now, he deserves the honor of winning the Turkey Day Award.
