There are some players that you don’t have to watch very long to see how special of a player that they are, and Jamal King is one of those players. Over the past few weeks and months I had heard about how talented this young man was from our good Ray over at RAM prospects, so I was excited to drop in and get a much closer look when they came to town play Trinity Christian. With so much 2019 talent on the floor I was interested to see who would stand out the on the floor, with 2019 Josh Nickelberry out because of foul trouble,e the game turned into a matchup of Jamal and another highly ranked Wing in 2019 Joey Baker. Trinity would go on to get the win and Joey Baker would lead all scorers with 32 Points, however Jamal King put on a show of his own and made his case for being a top player in the state for 2019.
What makes him special?
The first thing that caught my attention about this young man was his physique, even though he is only a sophomore he already has a build that makes it looks as if he spends his fair share of time in the weight room. Another attribute that impressed me about Jamal was his ability to score the ball/making difficult shots, although he finished with 26 Points on the night, not too many of his baskets were easy or uncontested. It didn’t matter if it was a stepback three point shots or a midrange shot with a defenders hand in his face, he knocked down shots and scored the ball very efficiently. Last but not least is his athletic ability, this young man is not only strong but he is a high flyer, once you combine the two of those attributes then you have a player that folks definitely do not want to jump with. One play that really made the fans leave their seats is when Jamal split a double team at the top of the key, attacked the paint and threw down a monster dunk with his off hand. As of now he has interest from quite a few high major schools but no offers as of yet, which should very soon, this young man is the real deal without a doubt.
