While our Texas-based writers were able to catch the action live, I had to settle for watching camp and all-star games via the Baller TV livestream replays and below are my first set of standouts from the Cream of the Crop Top 60 Game.
Exodus Ayers, 2023, La Cueva (NM): The 6-foot point guard showed a knack for playmaking in the open court and in the half-court setting due to his craftiness with the ball. Ayers displayed a high IQ when it came to passing and decision-making and used his quickness to get into the paint, draw defenders and hit open teammates. One of his more impressive traits was his interior passing and ability to thread the needle through tight spots.
David Terrell, Jr., 2023, Mansfield Summit (TX): Terrell was a beast on the offensive and defensive boards simply due to his willingness to out-work others on the glass and his quick leaping ability. The 6-foot-3 wing is bouncy and light on his feet, an active rim-runner on the break and is an efficient transition finisher who can elevate, extend, and finish around the basket.
Caleb Barrett, 2023, Plano (TX): Barrett plays with a relentless motor on both ends of the floor, leading to confident and aggressive attacking mentality. The 6-foot-3 guard is an active on-ball defender with quick feet, hands and rebounds well for his size and position. Barrett displayed some impressive vision in the open court, using the advance pass to kick ahead to teammates for transition opportunities.
Jaland Lowe Jaland Lowe 6'2" | PG Fort Bend Marshall | 2023 State #124 Nation TX , 2023, The Kinkaid School (TX): The 6-foot-1 combo guard has some dynamic open-court playmaking and finishing ability that really popped off the screen. Lowe is quick and shifty, but his balance and great pace allow him to stay under control and see the floor well. Lowe hit a couple of catch-and-shoot perimeter shots, but looked more comfortable attacking the rim and finishing with a crafty layup.
