Benjamin Lyttle
About Benjamin
Expert Analysis
Frank Mantesta | Prep Hoops Scout
Ben comes from a very successful nationally ranked high school program. He has an excellent work ethic. Has improved every facet of his game throughout his Stepinac career. A workhorse inside rebounding on the defensive glass or cleaning up misses. Not only has he excelled in the CHSAA nightly he has practiced against D1 players throughout his high school career every day fueling to his development. Has D2 interest and in my opinion would be a low D1 player if not for the transfer portal and the Covid extensions.

One of the most underrated players in the state. A tenacious outstanding rebounder. A workhorse on the boards and in the paint. Defends the rim or the perimeter really well. Has developed a really strong offensive game. Scores around the basket. He has also improved his perimeter game. A winning player who does whatever it takes to win. With his work ethic he will be a tremendous addition to a program at the next level.

We’ve mentioned Ben a few times already this season as a player coming into his own. Ben does everything really well. Plays tough, rebounds, very smart player. He is now a scorer to go along with everything else he brings to the game, can step out and hit the open three. Drive the ball off the bounce or score inside with determination and skill. College programs need to start following him.

Despite standing at just 6-5, Lyttle does not shy away from contact one bit on the interior even against players with multiple inches on him. An all-around player, Lyttle plays with a grit and toughness that makes things difficult for any offense to get into a rhythm. Also equipped with a consistent mid-range jumper, the senior scored seven points on 3 of 4 shooting in the victory.

18. The ranking at #18 is just a glimpse of what should be an outstanding senior season. My pick for most improved player in the CHSAA. Not because he wasn’t talented or lacked anything but because of hard work. He was a glue guy who did whatever the team needed to win. He is now showing he is much more then just a outstanding tough rebounder. He is a force scoring the ball on his own or off of putbacks. He is able to knock down jumpers and has expanded his range to hit the open three. Tremendous leader and a player who should be on college radars.

We ve told you recently how much this young man’s game has evolved. We got to see it live once again. No more is he just a rebounding force inside. A glue type player. He displayed the ability to knock down the three. Hit the mid range jumper. At the same time punishing players inside off the glass or defending or scoring inside. Expect a break out season from Ben.
