REACH HIGHER KINGS (MAZER/VINSON)
Davis McCarn Davis McCarn 6'4" | SG Atrios Academy | 2022 State GA (6-3, SG, Providence Christian, pictured above) – Spotlighted in earlier pieces, terrific shooter with bomber’s range well beyond the arc, likes the catch and shoot but can create space for his jumper with the bounce, good size makes him a difficult guard, pretty good foot speed allows him to drive it as well, one of the summer’s real sleeper “emergers” because of his natural scoring eye and innate basketball savvy.
Cody Howell (6-3, SF, Forsyth Central) – Like his athletic ability and versatility, great motor and understanding, good decision-maker seeking his own offense or setting up teammates, has shooting range but doesn’t mind getting in the thick to draw contact or do some dirty work inside on the glass at both ends, good leaper but can play through contact, does a lot of things winning players do, stat sheet stuffer type.
Colby Pepperman (6-3, PF, Alpharetta) – A true 4-man in that he wants to make his living closer to the basket, can step out and knock one down, but inside 15 feet is where he can do damage with a variety of post moves and mid-range skill, smart rebounder who plays bigger than his size, good defender who again can guard bigger players due to his work rate and good feet.
Elliott Palmer (6-2, SF, Alpharetta) – Similar player to Howell, athletic wing who can shoot it and handle it, plays smart, can guard multiple spots, not adverse to mixing it up inside getting offense or hitting the glass.
Chris Paik (5-9, PG, Alpharetta) – The lone true point guard in the group, excellent ballhandler and decision-maker, unselfish, does a nice job running the break, good speed with the ball, has nice shooting touch but truly shines in a distributor role.
Matthew Hopkins (5-10, SG, Alpharetta) – Outstanding shooter with a sweet stroke from 3-land, right with McCarn for shooting prowess, also can slide over to the 1 and showed a solid handle in spots running the point, another smart decision-maker and winning-type player.
Drew Mazer (5-9, CG, Alpharetta) – Low to the ground and power-packed makes him handful getting to the basket even at his size, can play either guard spot, excellent defender, good stroke, high energy, smart and sound.
