His name caught headlines with an explosive 40-point outing in UAA play for [program_tooltip program_id='2078456' first='DC' last='Premier'] in the spring and while he didn't hit that mark again for the remainder of summer, he still put together productive stat lines to back his top-10 status. The same was true here at The Challenge as he and 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='2548898' first='Dwight' last='Strickland'] look to be the engine for the PG County public school program. Tarawally's ability to play on and off the ball bring value, but what makes him even more important to this team is that he can generate offense when things break down. He uses a quick step and a long stride on his drives to gain advantages and is savvy at getting his defender off balance before initiating contact and drawing fouls either on his way to the rim or while in the air to earn trips to the stripe. In a 1-point loss to York High School, Tarawally had a few crunch time buckets and despite coming up short, still accounted for 18 points on 10 shots.

Sulaiman has impressed many of our scouts in recent viewings with his command and ability to set the table as the Boys' Latin lead guard. His sturdy frame, quick feet and competitively-wired approach all help set the tone for the talented sophomore and freshmen that surround him. He's stepping into more of a leadership role for the Lakers and seems to be embracing the responsibility even as more of a vocal presence than in year's past. Always known as a hellish defender, Sulaiman spent the two days harassing opposing guards the full length of the floor with active hands that resulted in a few steals and quick buckets. Off the ball, he's always looking to dig down on bigs during post touches or as others look to penetrate from the top of the key as the help side defender. His shotmaking has improved steadily throughout the last year and he's now a guy that the defense must account for at all three levels. His best game, in my opinion, came against Canada Top Flight where he scored 14PTS and racked up 5STLS in the win.

You won't find many others who are as high on Wylie as I am long term. The bloodlines are rich on the hardwood and at his size around 6'7"-6'8", the skill has blended fluidly and as time progresses, he looks more and more like a legitimate combo forward than a 4/5. The way he goes up to snag rebounds with intensity was a great sign of confidence and assertiveness in ways that I haven't seen before. Even on his dunks from the baseline, there was a tenacity to his finishing where Wylie was looking to send a statement. You can't help as a viewer feeling a little jolt of energy when he's flushing it down with power, but his effort doesn't disappear on the defensive end. He's looking to rotate quickly and swat shots away in the paint, close down possessions and did a nice job of guarding his yard in space when he was switched onto primary ball handlers in screens. Wylie stood out in different ways throughout the weekend, but was key in winning a tough matchup against Polaris Prep (CAN) as he scored 16PTS on 8/11 from the field.

Ever since Woodard arrived at Springdale, his two-way presence stood out like a sore thumb to me. At 6-foot-4 with broad shoulders, a plus wingspan and athleticism to play above the rim, there are plenty of time where bigger wings think they'll get the best of him because they're taller. Woodard's toughness and commitment to the defensive end cannot be taught. It's a mindset that any coach would want their player to have and fortunately for head coach Tyrone Johnson, it gives him a shutdown option for positions 1-3 any any given time. Offensively Woodard is low maintenance and super savvy with his timing on cuts or sizing up the backline of the defense to be on the finishing end of lobs. His buckets produce energy and momentum for his team and that was the case yet again as he made several plays in crunch time throughout the weekend for Springdale, who finished an unscathed 4-0. None of his stats were bigger than in the overtime thriller against Archbishop Carroll where he led in the scoring column with 14PTS on 7FGA's.

Pallotti is equipped to surprise some folks in the MIAA A Conference and it's due to their quantity of guards like Smith who range from 6'0"-6'3", pose physical frames and are all capable of mixing things up as scorers. They're all very effective at getting downhill and earning trips to the charity stripe with their understanding on drawing contact en route to the rim, but Smith showed off the shooting touch in a strong win over Abington Friends School as 12 of his game-high 16PTS came from deep. Pallotti was without two key starters on the day, but Smith and his teammates that we'll highlight below, held the rope and led their squad to a nice 2-0 showing.

Much of the same sentiments with Smith fit Hill. Hill was as consistent as Smith numbers wise and showed up big in the game over Abington Friends School following with 14PTS and hauling in 7REBS. The other plus with this group is the fact they all pound the backboards and any of them are capable of leading the fastbreak. There were a few occasions where Hill led the charge and scanned the floor for advantages, but once he got to the top of the key, put his head down and powered his way to the rim for finishes through harm.

The leap that we expected to see with Rogers this weekend playing with his new school in Southern Maryland Christian lived up to expectations. The leap that we expected to see with Rogers this weekend playing with his new school in Southern Maryland Christian lived up to expectations.
