It was great to see Scott back on the court after missing the entire spring/summer recovering from a torn labrum injury. He hasn't missed a beat as the senior lead guard handles the bulk of the initiating responsibilities in the backcourt along side 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='2962366' first='Obi' last='Mensah']. Scott makes tough plays look effortless and it all stems with his smooth operating ability off the bounce where he uses a combination of sound footwork, long strides and manipulation with his eyes to slither into the smallest of driving lanes or to open up passing windows as the defense rotates. His shooting mechanics allow for extended range and the quickness in which he can get it off whether it's off the catch or the bounce leaves his defender little room for error. The Mustangs are gearing up to avenge their Class 4A final four loss last season and had two competitive games on Sunday, finishing 1-1 with a win over Elizabeth (NJ) and a loss to Theodore Roosevelt (DC). Scott averaged 16.5PPG on efficient shooting numbers along with hauling in 4.5RPG.

Jones didn't have the success he typically does from beyond the arc on Sunday, but still found plenty of other ways to impact the game and lead his team to 2-0 on the day picking up quality wins over Redemption Christian (NY) and Bishop Ireton (VA). What I loved about his outing against Redemption Christian when it was obvious that his shot wasn't falling was his attentiveness in getting to the free-throw line. He finished the game 9-of-10 and led the Panthers with 16PTS in the win. He also didn't allow his misses to impact his presence as a leader. While St. Frances returns a few key guy from last year's BCL title team, there's a wave of new faces from the transfer portal or freshmen battling for spots in the rotation. Jones' guidance in the midst of a game to put those guys in position to succeed is clear and what every coach hopes for in their senior point guard. He followed his gutsy performance against Redemption Christian with 14PTS against Ireton where he established a better rhythm from three as he buried three of his seven attempts.

Dunbar doesn't fit in a positional box the way many evaluators prefer from players, but that's what makes me a fan of him. He's simply a ball player who can impact a handful of box score categories, defend multiple positions and as he showed on Sunday, continues to polish his skillset on the ball to be the primary option this season for McKinley Tech. He's no stranger to getting downhill and asserting his power as he jump stops and puts his shoulder into his defender's chest before laying it in. On other teams that Dunbar has played for, his offensive production relies heavily on being a timely cutter off the ball and those instincts benefit him on his HS team as well as his effort doesn't die when he doesn't have it in 1-on-1's. The other aspect of his game that continues to show improvement is his touch from outside, particularly off the catch. He's a stout defender who caused a handful of turnovers throughout the day in McKinley Tech's full court press, rebounds at a plus rate for this height and brings quiet toughness that spreads through those that he shares the floor with.

There may not be a bigger riser in our 2027 rankings when they're updated. Arrington is a force inside at a legit 6'9"-6'10" and has put on dominant performances throughout the summer and early fall to indicate a high ceiling moving forward. While he can command the block with the best of them in this event, Arrington's skillset is much more than a bruising paint presence. He's skilled on the perimeter as a guy who can make high-level reads out of DHO's, splash a three himself with space and even put the ball on the deck for a few bounces to create actions. As he continues to improve his body, more aspects of his game will emerge further, but his motor is efficient and kicks in whenever there's an opportunity to make a play on either side of the ball

Mason has impressed me anytime I've seen him take the floor this summer/fall. The backcourt duo of him and 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='2215677' first='Troy' last='Taylor'] will have Friends heavily in the mix for MIAA B Conference supremacy, but it isn't because of the various ways Mason can put the ball in the basket. It's his activity defensively that makes him seem like he's in complete control of the game at both ends for long spurts. Any skip passes were met by Mason flying around in the lanes and usually coming up with an interception. If he wasn't getting the ball and heading the other way, he was at least causing a deflection to give others a chance for a run out. I feel confident in saying that Mason is one of the better small college prospects in the state and will be a guy who is able to make an immediate impact at that level next fall as a freshman.

Typically don't focus a ton on the committed prospects, but it's impossible to leave Mancho off this list after his performances throughout Mount Carmel's 4-0 weekend. To no surprise, he's the anchor for this Cougars team and the vocal leaders that will have them in the thick of things to defend their MIAA A Conference crown. The archetype that Mancho is along with the sheer effort and passion that he plays with his tailor made for Towson. His ability to control the glass, be a physical presence that not many at the HS level can take advantage of and his dependable hands around the rim will result in immediate minutes for the Tigers next season. Mancho can take his game to new heights if he shoots it from three like he did on both days at Spooky Nook. He's utilized in the Mount Carmel offense a ton at the top of the key in ball screens, DHO's or as a swing guy. On almost every occasion, his man drops to the free-throw line to clutter the paint and Mancho sized up triples with confidence, drilling three of his six attempts. The ball left his hands with sound rotation and soft touch. If this is something we can come to expect with his game, it'll make him a even bigger nightmare within the BCL/MIAA this season and boost his stock further as a long-term prospect.
