We're holding off on officially ranking the Class of 2030 for now, giving these young players the chance to make their mark during their freshman seasons. From what we saw this summer, there's already plenty of reason to pay attention to this class. Several of these names showed enough talent, versatility and upside that we could see them making a varsity impact over the next couple of seasons. Now it's time to see who carries that summer momentum into the season, earns meaningful minutes and starts making an even bigger name for themselves.

Barney is a player we're excited about because his upside feels pretty significant. The athletic tools are obvious but there's more to his game than just being an athlete. He has a natural feel for cutting, spacing and finding openings around the basket, and his constant movement creates opportunities for himself and his teammates. Right now he's already a player you can trust to bring energy and make winning plays, but there's a much bigger version of his game still waiting to come out. If the skill set catches up with the physical tools, Barney has a chance to make a serious jump and become a name people need to know

Pena is a name we want to keep around because his motor gives him a chance to become a really useful player as he continues to develop. He plays with a high level of urgency, flies around the floor and seems to find his way into the action no matter what's happening. Defensively he has the instincts to disrupt possessions, get into passing lanes and turn pressure into opportunities going the other way. The best part is that he doesn't need plays called for him to matter. If Pena continues adding to his offensive game while keeping that same competitive edge his overall value could climb quickly

Knowles is a player we want to see more from because his feel for the game gives him a chance to develop into a really steady offensive piece. He sees the floor well, keeps the ball moving and seems to understand where the next play is coming from before it happens. There's no need to force the action with him as he's comfortable making the simple read and setting teammates up to succeed. As he gets stronger, more confident and continues expanding his own scoring ability, that natural playmaking could become a bigger part of his game. There's definitely something to build on with Knowles

Spellman gives us plenty to be excited about because there's a nice foundation to build around. He has the size and touch to be a problem near the basket and what really makes his long term potential interesting is the ability to step away and knock down shots. His hands are strong, he plays with patience and he doesn't rush himself when he gets an opportunity inside. That combination gives him multiple ways to score and should only become tougher to deal with as he continues developing. Spellman has the tools to grow into a very intriguing frontcourt prospect over the next few years

McVeigh is a name we're keeping an eye on because his game has a really appealing foundation for the years ahead. The shot immediately gives him value, with the range to stretch a defense and punish teams when they leave him open. He plays under control, sees the floor and doesn't feel the need to overdo things with the ball. That combination of shooting, decision making and patience could give him plenty of room to grow into a bigger role. If the rest of his game continues to catch up, McVeigh could become a very interesting name in this class
