The Expo: SGs That Delivered and Made a Statement Moving Forward

The Expo gave us another strong look at a group of shooting guards who are ready to make noise. These guards showed the ability to score in different ways, from knocking down threes and attacking closeouts to creating off the dribble and finishing at the rim. Several brought an edge defensively, while others stood out with pace, movement and shot making. The combination of skill, confidence and versatility makes this a group we expect to see climbing the rankings after what they showed during the showcase.    Gingerich was one of the players who really grabbed our attention at The Expo. He played with an attacking mindset, using his face-up game and quick first step to get downhill and capitalize on hard closeouts. He showed some toughness around the rim with multiple finishes and made an impact in transition, including a steal that turned into a dunk. Gingerich also showed good readiness coming off screens, knocking down shots when given space and using changes of direction to create separation. A strong overall performance that points to a player trending in the right direction     Dana showed why high-IQ players tend to make an impact in a variety of ways at The Expo. He simply gets it, playing with a great feel for the game and making the right reads on both ends. Defensively he was active in the passing lanes, creating steals and turning them into opportunities. He finished well around the basket, knocked down threes off the dribble and handled pressure without getting sped up. Dana also consistently looked for the extra pass, showing an unselfish approach and the kind of decision making that stands out     Robinson brought a competitive edge to The Expo and played with a pace that kept defenders on their heels. He was aggressive attacking the basket, using his drive to create scoring opportunities and put pressure on the defense. Robinson also showed value as a spot up shooter and when he gets his feet set he can catch fire quickly. That combination of downhill aggression and perimeter shooting gives him multiple ways to impact the game. His competitiveness stood out throughout the event, making this another solid showing from a player who continues to make his presence felt     Moore brought an edge to The Expo and played with the kind of quickness and explosiveness that immediately stood out. He was aggressive with the ball, getting downhill and putting pressure on defenders while showing the ability to score at all three levels. Moore played under control, made smart decisions with his opportunities and consistently communicated on the floor. His combination of burst, scoring versatility and feel gives him an intriguing foundation. The Expo was another strong step forward for Moore and a performance that has us looking for more     Murray showed a nice offensive feel at The Expo by consistently finding ways to keep pressure on the defense. He actively used screens to create space and showed confidence pulling up from three, while also knocking down open looks when defenders went under. Away from the ball he stayed active with baseline cuts and smart movement that led to finishes. Murray also showed touch with floaters, attacked quickly when he caught the ball in scoring position and ran the floor well for transition baskets. His ability to score within the flow while staying active makes him an intriguing player on the rise     Minter brought good energy to The Expo and was at his best when pushing the pace. He ran the break hard, created opportunities in transition and showed a willingness to attack before the defense could get set. There were a couple of stretches where the ball consistently found him and he took advantage by getting downhill and drawing fouls while converting the and 1. Defensively Minter moved his feet well and stayed engaged, showing the ability to make an impact without needing the ball in his hands. His pace, activity and attacking mentality made for a strong showing     Chavez gave us plenty to like when seeing him play and his perimeter shooting immediately stood out. He showed confidence stepping into the three ball and was especially effective when he had time to get his feet set. He also knocked down a couple tough three pointers with a man in his face while also showing the ability to attack off the dribble and get all the way to the rim. That combination of shooting and downhill ability gives him multiple ways to score. When Chavez gets into rhythm he can quickly become a problem for defenses and showed plenty of offensive upside at The Expo
