Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase - Top Performers, Part One

There are many great days across the busy Indiana High School Basketball schedule. However, few compare to our annual Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase and Prep Hoops Indiana Sophomore ID Camp. On Sunday, September 6th at the Noblesville Boys & Girls Club we hosted nearly 250 of the best underclassmen in the state. Over the next couple of weeks we will be posting individual evaluations of every prospect in attendance, highlighting top performers, introducing new names, and much more. Here are some of the top prospects who stood out during the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase.   ***As you can imagine, with nearly 250 prospects, we are bound to miss someone. If your team's evaluation article gets posted and you were NOT included please connect with Brandon Ramsey on Twitter or via email at coachbrandonramsey@gmail.com and he will take care of the mistake.***   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />    Due to him playing up at the 15u level with [program_tooltip program_id='2399422' first='Darius' last='Garland Elite'] on the P32 Circuit this summer, and playing at the varsity level with Portage High School, we've seen this 6'0" guard as much as any freshman in the state. However, that didn't keep him from standing out on Sunday at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase. Brown is a strong, physical guard that is really hard to stop when he gets downhill. He is a great finisher at the end of his drives, but also very capable as a shot-maker from the mid-range and out beyond the arc. Brown made a consistent impact defensively at the event as well.     It should come as no surprise that one of the de facto top prospects in Indiana's Class of 2030 was a top performer at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase. Faniel utilized his unique combination of positional size, athleticism, and skill to dominate throughout the event. He is so fluid in the open floor, explosive as a driver in the half court, and has serious upside as a backcourt/wing defender. It was clear once again on Sunday that this Merrillville freshman is one of the best not just in the state, but in the Midwest.     One of the first standouts of the day was this 6'0" guard from Kokomo High School. Jones is built like a Division I football player as a freshman in high school. During 3-on-3 play he simply bullied defenders off of the bounce and used his physicality to finish around the rim. However, he also has a smooth jump shot and made some threes on the day as well. His combination of skill and strength is unique for such a young guard. Look for him to have a great career for the Wildkats and be a name to know in this Class of 2030.     We've talked quite a bit about this incoming freshman class at Franklin Community High School. King, a 6'5" forward, is one of the prospects in that group that should make an instant impact at the varsity level this season. He is so strong around the basket playing with a great base and using his physicality to score around the rim. King was one of the most effective interior presences at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase. Pairing those abilities with some perimeter skill makes him a real prospect to watch in the 2030 class.     Kitch's name came to our attention after he put up a couple of big time scoring performances at the Charlie Hughes Showcase in June. The 6'0" guard from Warsaw High School will step int right away at the varsity level and make a major impact this season. He is incredibly skilled with the ball in his hands, is an impressive perimeter shot-maker, and plays with a real competitive edge. We were very impressed with how he seemed to control the game offensively when he had the ball. Kitch looks to be one of the better pure scorers and overall creators in Indiana's Class of 2030.     There were a handful of prospects at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase who were generating legitimate buzz from the AAU coaches, media members, and scouts in attendance. Northern was absolutely one of those prospects. The 5'9" point guard from South Bend St. Joseph High School is as quick and explosive with the ball in his hands as anyone in the class. He was relentless and aggressive as a driver on Sunday creating a lot of scoring opportunities for both himself and others as he attacked the paint.     This 5'8" left-handed point guard was one of the best pure playmakers in the gym at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase. He is so shifty with the ball in his hands and does a great job of getting to the paint where he attracts even more defensive attention. Pritchett has a smooth pull-up jumper, a variety of intermediate range finishes, and is good at the end of his drives at the rim as well. His ball skill level is what will allow him to get into the backcourt rotation at Pike High School right away.     We obviously have to discuss the top prospect in the class, [player_tooltip player_id='2886513' first='Levin' last='Robinson']. The 6'7" forward from Lawrence North High School put on a dunking display on Sunday that had everyone in attendance buzzing. There just simply aren't many freshmen at his size that move as fluidly as he does. Not only is Robinson a skilled driver and above the rim finisher, but he is also an excellent rebounder and interior defender. Look for him to make an instant impact this season at Lawrence North.
