Minnesota Freshman Showcase: Game 1 Notes

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Players that have made an impression from the first round of games at the Minnesota Freshmen Showcase!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Six-foot-2 [player_tooltip player_id='2847647' first='Paris' last='Kyles'] of Park Center is one of the elite freshmen in the state and it did not take long for him to make an impact once the games started. At his size and length, he has the quicks and skills of a guard and the taller forward trying to defend him had immediate issues as Kyles was getting downhill fast. The timing of this young man really stands out, on both ends. His timing of attack, timing of getting length to the ball on defense, all of it. Love his timing. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The biggest surprise of the day is already Nathan Ochan from St. Cloud Apollo. About 6'3, length everywhere, and two dunks over smaller guys in the halfcourt offense. Yes, just attacking the rim and dunking over the top of people. Had three dunks, five boards and several coast to coast finishes. Good handles, finishing, rebounding, very agile and impressive. Just had his fifth dunk flying by everybody in transition. Scored with an attacking spin move as well.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Tyler Miskowicz of Eagan has continued his success into the full court five on five getting to the rim and scoring consistently as well. Chasing down loose balls, rebounding, and playing really hard. Like him for Eagan in the future. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='3679706' first='Joshua' last='Crawford'] is a 6'5 forward that has brought a lot of energy to the court. Encouraging teammates, talking on defense, moving the ball, directing, and being physical as he works to finish as well. Made a couple shots in the paint off moves and he's been getting on the floor. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I will be interested to see what [player_tooltip player_id='3766361' first='Cameron' last='Johnson'] can do at Providence Academy in his younger years. A 6'5 player that is strong, has bodied people both ways, has some decent skills to work with and some physical abilities to work with. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2821812' first='TyTus' last='Lawrence'] from Park Center has helped a lot of teammates with his reads off the ball screen and in transition. Really nice passer that timed his leads very well. Good ball handler too. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2860451' first='Mason' last='Joyner'] of Hopkins has shot the ball well in this event showing range but a pretty good handler in creating the move to get himself some space. Also did a little Bob Cousy impression at the end of the game avoiding defenders. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
