High School Spotlight: South Bend Riley Wildcats

The High School Spotlight Series is back and we are excited to feature multiple teams throughout the state once again! The season is still a few months away, but it is never too early to look ahead at the high school season. We will be taking a look at some quick hitters, the top player(s), a potential breakout player, other roster members, and more for the upcoming season. For today's spotlight, we take a look at the South Bend Riley Wildcats.

Quick Hitters

Went 21-5 last season.

Lost to SBSJ in Sectionals.

Head Coach Alec Daniel starts his 7th year as head coach. Coming off a strong summer on the AAU scene, Parker returns as the team's leading scorer. He is a scoring point guard with dynamic playmaking and an ability to push the pace at a very relentless level. A junior all-star last season, Parker has a chance to play his way into a true Indiana All-Star this upcoming year.

Potential Breakout Player: [player_tooltip player_id='2560361' first='Dontreyelle' last='Johnson']

Very few players can say that they have been a day one starter at the varsity level and is certainly one of those guys. Johnson, while maybe a bit undersized, plays extremely well in the post with a soft scoring touch, strong frame, and great mechanics. He will once again play an important role for the Wildcats and will be their primary option in the paint. I expect his steady rise to continue this season.

Other Key Roster Members

[player_tooltip player_id='3685912' first='Jeremiyah' last='Johnson']

[player_tooltip player_id='2457345' first='A.J.' last='Neely']

[player_tooltip player_id='2855040' first='Jawaun' last='Johnson']

Cayden Delgado

DaMichael Davis

Tauras Benion Jr.

Henry Davis

Lachie Hoobin

[player_tooltip player_id='2140406' first='Kelin' last='Webster']

Jordan Williams
