Freshman Showcase Team 5 and 6 Prospects Who Caught Our Eye

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>***Use Code “ScottyB30” for 30% off your subscription***</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We continue our team examinations from the Prep Hoops Freshman Showcase with a look at the prospects who caught our attention with their play on Team 5 and Team 6.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='3687315' first='Tre' last='Johnson'] (Bloom)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Johnson is among the most intriguing prospects early on in the 2030 class.&nbsp; The power forward has legit size, length, and mobility as a front court player.&nbsp; Stretches the floor with his shooting showing natural mechanics and touch from beyond the three point arc.&nbsp; Fluid movements around the hoop on post moves, got on the offensive glass for second chance points, and swatted shots.&nbsp; Can utilize a shot fake out of the mid-range then attack with his handles.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2943104' first='Elijah' last='Mckinnie'] (Kenwood)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>McKinnie is a name that has been on our radar since back in the spring as he was playing up multiple age levels.&nbsp; The slick handling southpaw attacks off the bounce as well as any lead guard in the class.&nbsp; Ton of speed and the ability to finish in the paint from a variety of angles on scoop shots, euro steps, and finishing through contact for and-1s.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='3713962' first='Rome' last='Schultz'] (St. Patrick)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Schultz is a 6'0” guard from St. Patrick who is an electric athlete.&nbsp; Took the ball coast to coast with his wiry frame for scores.&nbsp; Was really impressed how he competed on the offensive glass for put backs.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2333959' first='Christian' last='Fuller'] (Richwoods)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Fuller had a breakout day at the Freshman Showcase!&nbsp; The 6'0” Richwoods wing consistently won off the dribble with his quickness and acceleration getting in the paint for euro steps.&nbsp; He got to the hoop pretty much at will when we saw him along with showing touch on a lefty mid-range jumper.&nbsp; Very athletic guard that if he grows could be a very exciting two guard!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>DJ Bolton (Bolingbrook)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Bolton goes 6'1” from Bolingbrook at his guard spot.&nbsp; Long and rangy guard that has slick handles slithering through the defense for scores in the paint.&nbsp; Projectable frame where he should continue to grow.&nbsp; Rebounded pretty well with a high activity level.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Davon Steen (2031)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Steen is only an 8^th grader that is still a year away from high school, but more than held his own against competition a year older.  The lefty point guard plays with an advanced basketball IQ and feel for the game.  He has excellent pace running a team as a plus passer that is also a capable scorer.  Really liked how he got after it defensively as well.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='3731213' first='Terryn' last='Bloom'] (Minooka)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Minooka 6'1” point guard is a long and lanky freshman that passes with a ton of flair.&nbsp; He was throwing behind the back dimes and putting passes on the money over and over again.<br><br></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
