New Prospects Featured in Updated 2029 Rankings

Our <a href="https://prephoops.com/virginia/rankings/virginia-high-school-boys-basketball-2029-class-player-rankings/">Updated 2029 Rankings</a> have expanded to include 100 players in the sophomore class. Camps, showcases and tournaments during June and July provided plenty of opportunties for our staff to evaluate prospects from around the state. Here is a closer look at a handful of sophomore prospects who earned their way into our rankings for the first time.    Mercer is an improving, mobile frontcourt prospect with good size, high level athleticism and a developing offensive skill set. He is an effective finisher around the basket and runs the floor well in transition, creating opportunities with his mobility and athleticism. Mercer also impacts the game defensively, where he can change shots in the paint and use his size and athleticism to control the glass.     Sanders is a quick, athletic and attacking guard who is comfortable playing with or without the basketball in his hands. The sophomore has good strength and an impressive command of the basketball, making him difficult for defenders to keep out of the paint. He consistently puts pressure on the defense off the dribble and is also a capable distributor who can create opportunities for teammates. Sanders impressed with RockIt MHC this offseason.     Another Skyhawk product, Quaye is a lightning quick lead guard with excellent vision and a willingness to make the right pass from anywhere on the floor. The sophomore pushes the pace in transition and consistently plays in attack mode, putting pressure on the defense off the dribble. He is an efficient midrange shot maker who can also get all the way to the basket and finish over length and athleticism. Quaye raised his stock with Living Legends this offseason and has proven to be a capable on-ball defender.     Watson is a strong, left handed guard with a consistent perimeter jumper and the ability to stretch the defense with his shot making. The sophomore can serve as a secondary ball handler, initiate offense and attack off the dribble, where he is capable of getting downhill and finishing in the paint. Watson plays with a high motor and continues to trend in the right direction as a prospect in the 2029 recruiting class.     The Episcopal big man has impressive mobility, good touch around the basket and a good feel for the game. Kyle shows flashes of inside/outside scoring ability and has a developing offensive skill set that makes him an intriguing frontcourt prospect. As he continues to add strength, expect his production and overall impact on the game to continue to grow. There is plenty of upside for the versatile sophomore forward.
