Jacob Sanders Jacob Sanders 6'3" | CG/SG L.C. Bird | 2029 State VA is one of the best players in his class regardless of position. He had a great summer with Rockit MHC with Coach Jerron Athey and is looking to build on that heading into his sophomore season with L.C. Bird. Jacob isn’t afraid of the spotlight and we’ve seen that time and time again in all the CBG events thus far he is ready for the big stage. He is a quick and shifty guard with great length and instincts on both sides of the ball. He uses his body well to get to his spots and score in bunches. Jacob is a consistent shooter and fearless finisher inside, he does a great job of attacking and getting downhill while also making the right plays for his team. I believe he will be a scholarship level player and among one of the more talked about players in the Richmond area this season.

Sanders had a great freshman season at Clover Hill and transferred to LC Bird this summer, and so far he’s shown he’s ready to be a leader and a go-to guy for this Skyhawks team so far this fall. He has the natural ability to get wherever he wants on the floor as it looks like he just glides all over the place, he is a very good finisher through traffic when he gets to the rim, he has good feel as a playmaker when he gets the defense to collapse, and he brings it on the defensive end in their high octane pressing style.

Sanders had a great freshman season at Clover Hill before transferring to LC Bird, and in a super talented 2029 in Richmond and in the entire state he’s the one I think will have the biggest breakout team for a Bird team that has one of the deepest backcourts in the state. The 6’2” guard glides on the court as he covers a lot of ground with few dribbles and changes speeds well, he’s a very good finisher around the rim through contact, he has a good midrange game with range that extends past the three-point line, and he has a high IQ and good instincts on both ends too.

Sanders is a quick, athletic and attacking guard who is comfortable playing with or without the basketball in his hands. The sophomore has good strength and an impressive command of the basketball, making him difficult for defenders to keep out of the paint. He consistently puts pressure on the defense off the dribble and is also a capable distributor who can create opportunities for teammates. Sanders impressed with RockIt MHC this offseason.

Jacob emerged as the leading scorer in the 15U division, averaging 19 points per game while showcasing a polished offensive game and natural scoring instincts. A crafty scorer with a smooth stroke, he consistently found ways to put the ball in the basket from multiple levels. He plays with a strong feel for the game, understanding spacing, timing, and how to create scoring opportunities within the flow of the offense. Whether knocking down perimeter shots or getting to his spots, Jacob proved to be a reliable and efficient offensive weapon. With his scoring ability and feel, he projects as a player on the rise in the Class of 2029 and has the tools to become a dominant force moving forward.
