Michigan Freshman Showcase All-Star Team

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Some of the top incoming freshmen in the state came together in Grand Rapids for a terrific showcase event. Talent shone at a variety of levels, with diverse skill sets. I'm not going to name an "All-Tournament" or "All-Event" team, because I'm just 1 guy and there were a ton of players in the gym. He showed off some real ball skills, featuring the ability to shake his defender and finish off a spin and score. Moore Walker had impressive control and balance with the ball. He could have had 0 points that day and I would have been just as excited. He's tall with a strong frame. Swetz hit the floor for a loose ball really early in the event. That grabbed my attention. I mean, he had some highlight-reel plays. I've covered every Michigan Freshman Showcase we've had, and I haven't been more impressed than I was with Huffman. He catches high and finishes high, but he's not just young and tall. Huffman can flat out see the floor and pass the ball. I saw him throw a pass downcourt that was where it needed to be and when it needed to be there. Trine is a powerful young man, but the most impressive thing is that he knows how to use that power. Trine used contact to create space and did so without lowering his shoulder and fouling. In fact, Trine DREW FOULS. Well, he showed me why and deserved to be here again. I liked seeing him get the ball on the wing. Jones consistently attacked the block from the wing in the half court. Even better, he attacked the block in transition as well, which kept great spacing and provided a finishing opportunity.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
