JR EYBL 2030 Guards Ready to Make a Freshman Impact

The jump to high school basketball is a big one, but several prospects from the 2030 class look ready to make an immediate impact. After standing out on the JR EYBL circuit this summer, these players enter their freshman seasons with an opportunity to quickly establish themselves at the high school level. Taking a closer look at some of the 2030s who could be in line for big freshman years.

Simply put, there aren't many freshmen coming in nationally that have the polished scoring repertoire that Smith does. A supremely athletic guard who has a great handle and good enough shot, Smith is able to get a bucket on all three levels and keep defenses guessing. He will be a division one player in a few years, it's just a matter of what level.

Not far off in impact from his AAU teammate Smith, Abrahams will be an important piece of the St. Francis attack this season. His athleticism and quick first step allow him to live in the lane, and on a team stacked with wings and forwards around him, Abrahams might be the best initiator on the team. The end result might just be freshman of the year in the CHSAA.

Green's development in recent months is truly impressive. In the winter his IQ was evident, but physically he struggled to get separation from his man consistently. Bigger, stronger, more confident and dynamic 8 months later- Green looks ready to log major minutes at Cardinal Hayes this season. Playing against a stable of other scholarship talent in the backcourt will only help him in the long run. It won't be surprising to see him handling point guard duties off the bench this season.

Braswell has owned much of the Spring and Summer along Team Final as they won both the MADE Spring Circuit and Jr EYBL Championships. He followed that up with stellar showings at Philly Live I and II and then into July and into the August camp circuit. A crafty and quick lead guard with the skillset and confidence of a player much older, Braswell will be one of the top freshmen in Pennsylvania next season.

Bennett has great positional size and is an unselfish passer. Often he takes one or two dribbles before pulling up or making a nice find over his defender. A crafty ball-handler, he has shown little issue in being able to get to his spots. His creation and scoring give him a path to making a big impact at St. Rose.

Coming from a basketball family, it's no surprise that Danye has shown great vision and an advanced understanding of how to create. He's a highly unselfish passer that uses a quick first step in order to get into the lane and either find the open teammate or score it himself.

Like most players on this list, Richardson has had success across all circuits in 2026. Now closer to 6-foot-4 than 6-foot-2, he truly can play either position and likely will be deployed as a small ball three in different lineups. He's a plug and play scorer, who will have a chance to be a national recruit if he continues to develop.
